The death of 14 year old Jade Anderson killed by a pack of dogs has only made it clearer that the responsibility of owning a dog is much great than just feeding and walking it. Recent statistics from the Hospital Episodes Statistics reveal that one in six of those admitted to hospital for a dog bite is a child aged under 10, with the treatment figures showing that children are more likely to get bitten in the face, requiring plastic surgery to reconstruct them.
Often the behaviour of a dog is down to the way in which it has been trained and is treated by the owner, however there are certain breeds that are more child-friendly than others. Here we give the top ten breeds that would be perfect for those looking to introduce a dog to a family with children.
As advocates of dogs in the workplace, we are delighted to be part of Bring Your Dog To Work Day on Friday 23 June 2017, as organised by HOWND.
