Tuna Melts My Heart goes to Edinburgh

Earlier this year Tuna and I travelled across the pond (again), but this time our primary intention was to properly promote the release of his book TUNA MELTS MY HEART: The Underdog with an Overbite. We had one signing scheduled prior to our arrival, in central London, however, there were talks of other UK cities…we just weren’t sure which cities we would be visiting.

I can’t emphasise how excited I was when Edinburgh, Scotland was proposed! It had been a city that I have always dreamed of travelling to because I knew that it was a city rich with culture and tradition.

Once the Edinburgh dates were confirmed, we needed to make plans for accommodations. That’s when our good friends at PetsPyjamas came to the rescue (again)! PetsPyjamas, is a UK based, award-winning, pet-lifestyle website- notable for their hundreds of bookable, pet-friendly hotels, cottages and B&Bs.

They are an incredibly efficient, “pet-adoring” travel site whom I’ve booked trips with in the past when visiting the UK. Having had such great experiences with them, and the properties they’ve recommended, I wanted to give PetsPyjamas another go!

It was important to me to experience as much of Edinburgh as possible within 4 days time, so I requested to stay two evenings in the city centre and two evenings in Old Town.

And boy, did PetsPyjamas deliver!

The first property they recommended was a quaint, newly-renovated B&B, called B+B Edinburgh, which was a 5 minute walk from the train station. Although it was located steps away from the city centre, the B&B was tucked away in a beautiful residential neighbourhood which made our experience quiet and relaxing.

The historic building was newly remodelled in a subtle contemporary design but without compromising the original architecture. The grandeur of the staircase, delicious Scottish breakfast, the cosy library lounge and the over-sized bathtub in the middle of our room were some of the highlights of B+B Edinburgh .

They were so welcoming of Tuna and made him feel right at home. We had access to a private park for him to run around in, and for me, there were a variety of shops and restaurants within walking distance to the property.

The next place PetsPyjamas suggested was a modern 5-star hotel, G&V Royal Mile Hotel, that was situated in the middle of Old Town, and I absolutely loved the juxtaposition of old meets new. That part of Edinburgh is breath-taking, and the hotel was on equal playing ground! Upon arrival, we were upgraded to one of their stunning designer suites. Our room was spacious, colourful and comfortable! There was a giant swivel chair that Tuna assumed as his bed, in addition to an actual giant bed, which he monopolized as well.

The Guest Services Manager, Henna, was an absolute star, as was the entire staff, including the General Manager Dale! Everyone was so friendly and accommodating, and elevated our stay to be permanently memorable.

Since it was the middle of the winter when we visited, and rather cold, Tuna didn’t have the pleasure of exploring the city as much as I did. Instead, he stayed warm by relaxing in the rooms which was actually unfortunate because the city itself is super dog-friendly, however, so were both properties, so it was a win win for the both of us! Plus, with the properties being so centrally located to historical sites like the Edinburgh Castle, I was able to explore, and pop back in to check on Tuna multiple times throughout each day.

Overall, Edinburgh did not disappoint… neither did PetsPyjamas, nor did the properties we stayed at. We had the best time, and I’m already anticipating and planning on our next visit to that the magnificent city!
