Despite their powerful, rugged looking appearance, the Bouvier des Flandres is a sweet natured dog who likes children. Their long, scruffy coat needs brushing regularly and washing when necessary, however, a simple spray-on-shampoo is often enough to freshen them up and keep them smelling sweet between washes. Training them using treats and other tools can help them to overcome their shyness with strangers.
