Because of their sweet and sensitive nature, training should be gentle and calm- using positive reinforcement such as praise and treats not harsh words. As their name suggests, they are enthusiastic swimmers and love a good splash around. Some American Water Spaniels have a tendency to drool so using a place mat for food bowls and keeping dog blankets on sofas prevents too much mess!
