London Fashion Week 2014 Pet Trends

Get next season now; why wait until next winter to get your four-legged friend looking fabulous!

As London Fashion Week A/W14 draws to a close, and every fashionista worth her weight in designer clobber turns their attentions to Milan, it’s time for a brief review of next season’s key trends. Because we love that warm fuzzy feeling we get inside when we’re the first of our friends to be seen in the latest ‘it’ bag or must-have heels, we’ve pulled out a little more for you and your canine companion than just the top trends!

We watched the shows with great enthusiasm but it wasn’t long before a sense of familiarity washed over us…Hang on a minute we thought, where have we seen that before? We always knew we were ahead of the times here at PetsPyjamas but now we know we’re FROW ready….

Bold and Beautiful

Inspired by: House of Holland

Henry Holland

House of Holland’s A/W14 show was a metaphorical detonation of artistic talent with one explosion after another! Striking neon shades, contrasting signature hues, a myriad of textures and prints and an eye for elaborate detail. We watched slack-jawed as one stunning creation followed the next…and then we day dreamed the entire journey home of how adorable our cat would look in sequins and our dog would look in dusky purple!

Decadent Utility:

Inspired by: J.W. Anderson

The best way we can translate this mesmerising show is to say think Princess turned warrior, or, put substantially more eloquently than that by the designer himself,: “I was reading a book about the painter Graham Sutherland, who said, ‘you have to destroy in order to gain.’” This show was inspired by the sculptors and painters of the post-war austerity years and Anderson describes the collection itself as being “something more grounded. Muddy textures. The imperfect.” A beautifully experimental show with several strong trends emerging from it – we were already big fans of Jonathan’s work but now we’re even more excited.

The Explorer come Storyteller

Inspired by: Hunter Original

“The launch at London Fashion Week of Hunter Original; the heartbeat of the Hunter brand, home of the iconic Original Boot and the world that surrounds it.”

Avid fans of Hunter already, this show did everything it possibly could to persuade us that there’s more to this household name than designer wellies! “For more than 150 years, Hunter has merged functionality, fashion and true British style. The result? High quality footwear that excels in any environment.” Hunter. We were on the edge of our seat throughout the show, expectations could not have been higher and naturally they exceeded them in abundance…

Welcome home Jane

Inspired by: Burberry Prorsum

If anything could divert the media’s attention from Harry Styles then this was it! Burberry Prorsum’s hotly anticipated LFW AW14 show was as elegant as it was commanding – a powerful and heady collection of dreamy prints, layers of sumptuous fabric and deep, rich tones throughout. It was as if Jane had fled the jungle and bagged herself a glamorous 9-5. We cannot salute Christopher Bailey (Chief Creative Officer at Burberry Prorsum) highly enough for this beautiful contribution to next season – or this season if one’s lucky enough to be a PetsPyjamas pet!

Mulberry’s latest ad campaign features a hauntingly beautiful Cara Delevingne – the new face of this designer handbag heaven. The LFW AW14 show was in keeping with the fantasy promo and general message that nothing else matters when you have a Mulberry – you’re somehow invincible, impenetrable and dare we say it, other-worldly (we agree by the way, wholeheartedly). There is no other designer accessory that feels quite like a Mulberry or that attracts as many knowing and envious glances! That is why PetsPyjamas remain solid devotees to the label.
