{"id":26054,"date":"2015-08-12T11:11:46","date_gmt":"2015-08-12T10:11:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.petspyjamas.com\/blog\/?p=26054"},"modified":"2025-03-03T13:07:53","modified_gmt":"2025-03-03T12:07:53","slug":"wife-fools-husband-into-thinking-great-dane-is-jack-russell","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.petspyjamas.com\/blog\/wife-fools-husband-into-thinking-great-dane-is-jack-russell\/","title":{"rendered":"Wife fools husband into thinking Great Dane is Jack Russell"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Everyone tells a little white lie now and then, however Sue Markham\u2019s fib grew \u2013 quite literally \u2013 out of hand.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/yogi-bear.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-26056 size-full\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/yogi-bear.jpg\" alt=\"great dane yogi bear\" width=\"634\" height=\"476\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After laying eyes on a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.petspyjamas.com\/pets\/dogs\/breed-great-dane\/0\" target=\"_blank\">Great Dane<\/a> puppy named Yogi \u2013 nicknamed Bear \u2013 Sue from Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, knew she couldn&#8217;t turn him down and was desperate to give the 1lb 5oz pooch a loving home.<\/p>\n<p>So she told her husband Robert \u2013 who had stipulated no big dogs \u2013 that Yogi was a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.petspyjamas.com\/pets\/dogs\/breed-jack-russell-terrier\/0\" target=\"_blank\">Jack Russell Terrier<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_26060\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-26060\" style=\"width: 690px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/yogi-bear-7.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-26060 size-medium\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/yogi-bear-7-690x244.jpg\" alt=\"great dane yogi bear\" width=\"690\" height=\"244\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.petspyjamas.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/yogi-bear-7-690x244.jpg 690w, https:\/\/www.petspyjamas.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/yogi-bear-7-930x329.jpg 930w, https:\/\/www.petspyjamas.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/yogi-bear-7.jpg 980w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-26060\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Seeing double &#8211; Yogi as a puppy on the left; and a Jack Russell puppy on the right<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWhen I saw Bear I fell in love with him and knew I wanted him but I knew Robert didn&#8217;t want a big dog,\u201d said Sue.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo I told a little fib and said he was a Jack Russell. But it started to become fairly obvious when Bear dwarfed any other dogs in the village, so the game was up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/yogi-bear-5.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-26059 size-full\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/yogi-bear-5.jpg\" alt=\"great dane yogi bear\" width=\"634\" height=\"476\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now nine years old, Yogi has grown into a 15 stone, 6ft 10in \u2018terrier\u2019. So big is Yogi, he sleeps on a two-seater sofa, has his own three-acre paddock for exercise, wears a horse coat when it\u2019s cold and gets through \u00a3160 worth of food a month.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/yogi-bear-6.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-26057 size-full\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/yogi-bear-6.jpg\" alt=\"great dane yogi bear\" width=\"634\" height=\"476\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Despite initially being worried a larger dog would be a lot of work and they wouldn&#8217;t have the space, Robert wasn&#8217;t annoyed at his wife\u2019s little fib as he fell in love with Yogi too.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/yogi-bear-4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-26058 size-full\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/yogi-bear-4.jpg\" alt=\"great dane yogi bear\" width=\"634\" height=\"476\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s a very good natured dog with a lot of character so
