The majority of the impairments are the result of natural causes \u2013 such as cancer or birth abnormalities \u2013 sadly some are the result of physical abuse and neglect.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_26089\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-26089\" style=\"width: 626px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/perfect-imperfection-62.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-26089 size-full\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/perfect-imperfection-62.jpg\" alt=\"disabled animals\" width=\"626\" height=\"720\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-26089\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Kitten Rupert is missing one of his front legs<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cTo me, all animals are beautiful \u2013 able-bodied animals and those who have had a harder path to walk, with physical ailments,\u201d said Alex.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI always want people to see my subjects the same way. If a three-legged dog is the focus of my lens, I want to lead with the character of that dog, rather than dwell on his or her physical differences or limitations.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_26081\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-26081\" style=\"width: 634px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a class=\"wp-caption-text\">Puppy Louis only has one eye<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>From cats and dogs to birds, and even a young goat \u2013 Alex\u2019s portraits not only highlight the beauty of each
