{"id":30571,"date":"2016-11-10T11:28:07","date_gmt":"2016-11-10T10:28:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.petspyjamas.com\/blog\/?p=30571"},"modified":"2025-03-03T13:05:25","modified_gmt":"2025-03-03T12:05:25","slug":"john-lewis-2016-christmas-advert-stars-biff-the-boxer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.petspyjamas.com\/blog\/john-lewis-2016-christmas-advert-stars-biff-the-boxer\/","title":{"rendered":"John Lewis\u2019 2016 Christmas advert stars Biff the Boxer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>John Lewis\u2019 Christmas advert is always highly anticipated and in recent years they\u2019ve produced some real tearjerkers.<\/p>\n<p>However, this year the retail giant has gone for a more humorous, upbeat campaign \u2013 and the star of this year\u2019s advert is Biff the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.petspyjamas.com\/pets\/dogs\/breed-boxer\/0\" target=\"_blank\">Boxer<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-30578\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/biff-1.jpg\" alt=\"biff-1\" width=\"615\" height=\"346\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The four-year old pooch was chosen from dozens of other fellow Boxers for his \u2018expressive\u2019 face, and he stars alongside CGI woodland animals.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-30579\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/biff-2.jpg\" alt=\"biff-2\" width=\"615\" height=\"346\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The advert is set to a wonderful cover of Randy Crawford\u2019s 80s hit <em>One Day I\u2019ll Fly Away,<\/em> and begins on Christmas Eve with Biff, who plays Buster the Boxer, watching his little girl owner bounce on her bed in excitement for the next day.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-30580\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/biff-3.jpg\" alt=\"biff-3\" width=\"615\" height=\"346\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After she\u2019s tucked up, the young girl\u2019s father assembles her gift from Santa Claus \u2013 a trampoline.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-30581\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/biff-4.jpg\" alt=\"biff-4\" width=\"615\" height=\"346\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Later as Buster\u2019s owners sit and watch TV, two foxes, a badger, hedgehog and squirrel find the new trampoline and enjoy a late-night bouncing session \u2013 much to the Boxer\u2019s disappointment.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-30575\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/biff-6.jpg\" alt=\"biff-6\" width=\"615\" height=\"346\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-30576\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/biff-7.jpg\" alt=\"biff-7\" width=\"615\" height=\"346\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-30577\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/biff-9.jpg\" alt=\"biff-9\" width=\"615\" height=\"346\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Morning comes, and the young girl races downstairs and into the garden to her new trampoline \u2013 only to be beaten by a very excited Buster who wastes no time enjoying a bounce. The advert then ends with the slogan, \u201cGifts that everyone will love\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-30573\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/biff-10.jpg\" alt=\"biff-10\" width=\"615\" height=\"346\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-30574\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/biff-11.jpg\" alt=\"biff-11\" width=\"615\" height=\"346\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-30572\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/biff-13.jpg\" alt=\"biff-13\" width=\"615\" height=\"346\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Head trainer Julie Tottman said of Biff, \u201cHe was an absolute superstar! Everyone that meets Biff agrees that he&#8217;s a complete gent, and we&#8217;re sure that his new-found fame won&#8217;t go to his head!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biff is also starring in British handbag brand
