Time to whip out that pan and get frying. To celebrate the most delicious of days, we\u2019ve put together a list of simple pancake recipes that both you and your four-legged friend can enjoy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>PetsPyjamas Pup Henry has tested out some of our favourite dog-friendly pancake (or poochcake, if you prefer) recipes and best toppings around and wanted to share his top three&#8230;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>1. The Peanut Butter Poodle\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>It&#8217;s common knowledge that dogs LOVE peanut butter. Treat your pooch to these deliciously peanutty delights and they&#8217;ll be licking their lips for hours. What&#8217;s more, these are completely gluten-free!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-34333\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/resize3-930x1147.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"548\" height=\"676\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2 medium eggs<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">100g of buckwheat flour<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">300ml water<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Coconut oil for frying<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For the peanut butter drizzle\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2 x tablespoons of peanut butter\u00a0<strong>(Xylitol free)<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">150g strawberries (or cooked apples!), chopped\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Method<\/b><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a medium bowl, beat the eggs. Mix in the water and buckwheat flour and whisk together. The batter should be fairly runny, similar to a human pancake\/crepe batter!<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If the consistency of your batter looks too thick, add small amounts of water a spoonful at a time. Let sit for 10 minutes.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Heat a frying pan to medium heat. Add oil to the pan and add the batter.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cook for around 2 minutes, until the underside, is golden brown. Flip and cook for an additional minute, until both sides are golden brown.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To make the peanut butter drizzle, heat 2 tablespoons of peanut butter for 10 seconds in a microwave. Depending on your choice of peanut butter, you may need to slightly adjust the amount of water to get a runny consistency. To serve, drizzle the pancakes with peanut butter and fresh strawberries\/apples.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cut into a dog bone shape using a biscuit cutter (if you have one!)<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Bon Appetite!&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-34328\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/p2-930x1075.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"636\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.petspyjamas.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/p2-930x1075.jpg 930w, https:\/\/www.petspyjamas.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/p2-690x798.jpg 690w, https:\/\/www.petspyjamas.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/p2-768x888.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Henry&#8217;s poochcake rating: 4\/5, &#8220;I was unsure at first, but the strawberries were particularly dog-licious.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>2. The Banana Bulldog<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>This banana bonanza is the perfect healthy treat for your pooch, especially if they have a sweet tooth!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-34330\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/resize1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"551\" height=\"667\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2 x bananas<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2 x medium eggs<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2 tbsp. buckwheat flour<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A little coconut oil<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Blueberries<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Peanut butter\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>(Xylitol free)<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Method<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meanwhile, in a medium bowl, smash up the banana and eggs. You can use a food processor if you for a smoother texture, but doing this by hand with a fork or potato masher works just as well, especially if the bananas are ripe!<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stir in the buckwheat flour. Allow batter to sit for 2 \u2013 3 minutes while the buckwheat flour rehydrates. It should be a fairly thick consistency<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Heat a nonstick pan and add coconut oil.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Scoop generous spoonfuls of batter onto the pan. Wait until bubbles appear in the centre.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Carefully flip the pancakes. The Potato Pug\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>A slightly more savoury option, these super tasty pancakes offer a healthy alternative for your doggie to devour for their main course.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-34337\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/resize6-930x1138.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"552\" height=\"675\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.petspyjamas.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/resize6-930x1138.jpg 930w, https:\/\/www.petspyjamas.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/resize6-690x845.jpg 690w, https:\/\/www.petspyjamas.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/resize6-768x940.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 552px) 100vw, 552px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Henry&#8217;s poochcake rating: 4.5\/5, &#8220;Very tasty but I would have added bacon!&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3 medium potatoes<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Small pinch of salt<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2 x medium eggs<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Coconut oil<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cottage cheese<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1 x Carrot (grated)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Method<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Boil potatoes with their skins in lightly salted water for about 30 minutes or until soft enough to prick easily with a fork.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Take off the heat, drain the water and then mash the potatoes.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Using two small bowls, separate the egg yolks from the whites, putting the whites to one side for the moment.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mix in the egg yolks with the mashed potatoes until smooth.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Whisk egg whites until stiff and fold into mashed potatoes.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Melt oil in a frying pan. When the pan has heated, spoon the mashed potato mixture into the pan. Flatten with a spatula into a potato cake and allow to brown well on both sides.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Continue until all of the mixture is cooked adding butter as needed to avoid the potato pancakes sticking. Serve with cottage cheese and grate the carrot over the top.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cut into a dog bone shape using a biscuit cutter (if you have one!)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Extra doggie toppings\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re feeling creative, why not sprinkle your pancakes with some dog-licious toppings such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Dog biscuits!<\/li>\n<li>Marmite<\/li>\n<li>Yoghurt<\/li>\n<li>Chopped vegetables (e.g. mushrooms, carrots, cucumber, green beans)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Whatever you decide to conjure up for you and your furry friend this pancake day, be sure to double-check that the ingredients you use won&#8217;t be potentially harmful to your dog.
