Cockapoo nails can be quite rough and sharp after they’re cut, so I’d recommend giving them a quick file over to grind the tip of each nail down – but try to be careful, your doggy might not like it if you use too much pressure!

Oral Hygiene

The only drawback with the Cockapoo breed is oral health – it’s not the best! For me, even the expensive oral dog food does nothing to maintain clean healthy teeth (at least not in Max’s case), and even tooth brushing can only remove so much.

If you’re in the same boat as me, and you too struggle to get your pup’s teeth clean, you might have to take a trip to the vet for a scale and polish (under anesthetic), but this should really be a last resort.

Spring Cleaning

As part of my Spring cleaning routine, I make sure I wash my dog’s bedding, mats, and anything he tends to sit on – including floors and carpets. This of course helps to remove any bacteria, parasites, or fleas lurking around the house.

As a general rule, I tend to wash Max’s bedding every couple of months or so just to keep it fresh and clean. Cockapoos don’t tend to moult as much as other dogs, so you don’t usually have to worry about a build-up of hair everywhere – if anything the hair tends to get trapped in their coats, so it’s always a good idea to give your pooch a nice brush from time to time!

Garden Maintenance

I’m sure we’ll all be thinking about getting out in our gardens/outside space as soon as the warmer weather arrives, but before you do, it’s worth making sure it’s as safe as can be for your pooch.

I tend to do a quick walk around and make sure there are no Cockapoo sized gaps in fences or anything sharp or potentially harmful lying around. I also pour away any stagnant water that may have accumulated in watering cans, flower pots etc – if your dog drinks this it could be really bad for them.

Like most dogs, Cockapoos tend to enjoy sitting in the shade on super hot days, so if possible, allow for a designated shady patch in your garden where your dog can sit.
