Dog Birthday Cake Recipe<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Treat your pooch to a homemade doggie birthday cake on their special day! Using 100% dog-friendly ingredients including a potato yogurt fluffy frosting, peanut butter and carrots, this delightful canine cake is both nutritious and tasty – and the perfect birthday gift for your four-legged friend.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Ingredients:

<\/strong><\/h3>\n

DOG BIRTHDAY CAKE:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  • 2 eggs<\/span><\/li>\n
  • 140g peanut butter (spread or pure) <\/span>– Be sure to check that your peanut butter does NOT contain Xylitol, a sweetener that is extremely toxic to dogs!<\/span><\/i><\/li>\n
  • 60ml oil (canola, vegetable)<\/span><\/li>\n
  • 160ml milk (or water)<\/span><\/li>\n
  • 115g honey or maple syrup (or apple sauce or skip it)<\/span><\/li>\n
  • 2 Large Carrots, Shredded<\/span><\/li>\n
  • 275g whole wheat \/ wholemeal flour (or white flour)<\/span><\/li>\n
  • 2.5 tsp baking soda
    <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    DOG FRIENDLY FLUFFY FROSTING (WHIPPED POTATO YOGURT):<\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    • 600 – 700g potatoes, peeled, cut into chunks<\/span><\/li>\n
    • 215 to 285ml yogurt (plain unsweetened) or water<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Method:\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n

      CAKE:<\/strong><\/p>\n

        \n
      1. Preheat the oven to 180C\/350F (160C fan).<\/span><\/li>\n
      2. Grease and line the base of 2 x 20cm\/8″ cake pans.<\/span><\/li>\n
      3. Whisk together eggs, peanut butter, oil, honey and milk (little peanut butter lumps are ok).<\/span><\/li>\n
      4. Stir in carrots. Then add flour and baking soda, stir until just combined (over mixing = hard cake = sad birthday pooch).<\/span><\/li>\n
      5. Divide batter between the cake pans, spread and smooth surface.<\/span><\/li>\n
      6. Bake for 25 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean.<\/span><\/li>\n
      7. Cool on racks.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        DOGGIE FLUFFY FROSTING:<\/strong><\/p>\n

          \n
        1. Boil, steam or microwave potato until very soft.<\/span><\/li>\n
        2. Whip the potato and yoghurt with an electric beater until fluffy and smooth as possible (won’t go 100% smooth) – about 1 1\/2 minutes on medium speed (speed 5).<\/span><\/li>\n
        3. Use water as needed to loosen frosting to soft spreadable consistency (like human buttercream frosting!). Use while warm (it “sets” when it cools).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          FROST:<\/strong><\/p>\n

            \n
          1. Spread 1\/4 frosting on one cake.<\/span><\/li>\n
          2. Top with other cake. Frost tops and sides with remaining frosting, reserving some to pipe decorations if desired.<\/span><\/li>\n
          3. Enjoy!<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
