A curious little cat, the American Shorthair appreciates the freedom of having a cat-flap so that he can go and explore the garden as he pleases. Despite their independence, they still love to play with the whole family. It's important to encourage this activity using toys or a cat play centre because the American Shorthair is prone to obesity (particularly when neutered). Using dietary foods and a smaller food bowl may help too.
