Converted from former farm buildings, these four holiday properties (two of which have been adapted for the disabled with shower chairs available), are in the Southdowns National Park. Properties 17320 and 17321 command fine views over the surrounding countryside. 17320 also has a worktop which has been lowered for wheelchair access to the sink in the kitchen. Situated in the grounds of the family farm (non-working), they are only 100 yards from the village of Compton with village shop and tea room with free wi-fi access. The historic cathedral town of Chichester lies 10 miles away, with its cobbled streets adorned with tea rooms and restaurants, and the ornate cathedral. Other race courses within easy reach include Brighton and Lingfield. Beaches within a 30 minute-drive include West Wittering, Worthing and the ever popular cosmopolitan city of Brighton, with its pier, Regency Royal Pavilion, theatres and art galleries.

There are many stately homes and gardens to discover too, some of which are National Trust, including Petworth House, Goodwood House and Gardens, Nymans, Glyndebourne, Sheffield Park and Borde Hill. With its shallow waters revealing a vast swathe of sand at low tide, Middleton has long been established as one of the prominent beach destinations on the south coast. If you want to explore the area a little further this is a fabulous coastline to stretch your legs east to Climping and Littlehampton’s West Beach or west to Bognor Regis Pagham and Pagham Harbour. This part of the coastline is a haven for unusual birds and wildlife with Pagham Harbour Nature Reserve and Chichester Harbour a little further to the west, both being Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Pagham Harbour is an internationally important site for nature conservation while Chichester Harbour also combines its wildlife attractions with sailing centres such as Itchenor and Bosham.

Just 6 miles north is Arundel, a historic market town dominated by its symbolic castle and the rising spire of the cathedral. It offers a plethora of craft and antique shops as well as restaurants and tea rooms. Arundel Castle is the seat of the Dukes of Norfolk and is set in 40 acres of sweeping grounds and gardens. The castle has been seasonally open to visitors for almost 200 years and is well worth a trip. The drive across to Cape Wrath is sublime, and the off-the-beaten road via Altnaharra or Kinbrace is a true Highland highlight.
