Golf, tennis and a leisure pool are in the town itself, or further afield the cities of Dundee and Aberdeen are almost equi-distant and have plenty of shops, eateries and theatres for an alternative day out. The pebbly bay below Auchmithie is marked at one end with sheer sandstone cliffs punctuated by caves, making it popular with smugglers in past times. Arbroath is within easy reach with plenty of shops and eateries and there is much to do for the visitor here and in the surrounding area; take a boat trip round the Bell Rock Lighthouse, visit Arbroath Abbey or enjoy the magnificent beaches at Lunan Bay and Montrose. There’s also plenty of wildlife to see from the magnificent sights of thousands of pink footed geese at the Montrose Basin to dolphins, porpoises and ospreys. Inland, the renowned Angus Glens are superb for walkers.
