Travelling down the coast, guests will come to Port Isaac, where the TV series ’Doc Martin’ is filmed, and further down the coast, visit the beautiful sandy surfing beach at Polzeath and the dunes at Rock where you can take a ferry across to Padstow. From Padstow, with its working harbour, shops, pubs and restaurants, you can hire bikes and cycle the Camel Trail to Wadebridge and beyond to Bodmin.
Close by is Bodmin Moor, an unspoilt moorland at its best, and for walkers the tors on the moor are a must. Further down the coast is Newquay, with its famous surfing beaches, Blue Reef Aquarium and Zoo and if you travel to the south coast, you will find Looe, Fowey and Mevagissey, just a few of the charming coastal villages. This lovely 1900s barn was formerly a cow shed and milking parlour, and has been converted to a high standard with luxury fixtures and fittings. It is situated on a working beef and sheep farm with a pedigree Hereford suckler herds, sheep and goats and lies adjacent to the owners’ home. This semi-detached property is all one level and has a family bathroom, a double bedroom with en-suite facilities and a twin bedroom. The corridor leads to an open plan living space and the fabulous fitted kitchen has all the necessary appliances you could need. There is also a lovely breakfast bar for you to enjoy your meals whilst looking at the open countryside through the patio doors. The living area has a wood burner, ideal for keeping you cosy on those colder evenings, and patio doors lead out to a patio area and the garden, great for exercising the dogs, and children. After a long walk, imagine relaxing in the private hot tub just looking out onto the rolling green hills – perfect!
Ammanford itself has a coffee roastery serving fantastic coffee as well as breakfasts. There is also a large selection of shops, supermarkets and local pubs, some serving good food and with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and castles. Pantyffynnon station is within walking distance of the property on Heart of Wales line to Shrewsbury or Cardiff in the other
direction.
There is also plenty to do in the area, with the beaches of Gower approximately 18 miles. The lovely old market town of Llandeilo, situated on the River Towy, is just 6 miles away with boutiques and galleries, and hosts various festivals throughout the year, including the Jazz Festival and the Gin Festival. For those wanting to explore the local countryside, there are plenty of walks from the property and some great biking trails. Beach 12¾ miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 1½ miles.

Maesydderwen, meaning oak field, started life as a working farm and later became a country inn, but is now a collection of delightful holiday cottages, beautifully situated within the living landscape of the Brecon Beacons National Park. The charming market town of Llandeilo, with chic shops and an array of good restaurants, cafes and pubs, is just over three miles away. This holiday property has CCTV and has been renovated by the owners who live on-site, and boasts a fantastic hot tub and comfortable accommodation ideal for families, friends or couples. The property has been awarded Bronze in the Carmarthenshire Tourism Awards for self catering accommodation of the year 2018/2019 (3 units or more). There is an abundance of wildlife to see and enjoy from the grounds including woodpecker, siskin, marsh tit, goldfinch, nuthatch and wild roe deer. Red kites can also often be seen soaring overhead and there is a feeding station a 20-minute drive away. You can leave the car behind and enjoy wonderful walks directly from the cottage. If you can drag yourself away from Maesydderwen, there are the beautiful castles of Carreg Cennen and Dinefwr nearby, and the dammed lake of Llyn Y Fan Fach at the western border of the Black Mountains. The National Botanic Garden of Wales, 11 miles, with its great glasshouse dome at its centre, is a year round attraction, and within the Brecon Beacons National Park there are masses of paths and trails for walkers, runners, cyclists, mountain bikers, golfers, horse riders and wildlife watchers. Adrenaline sports such as paragliding, canoeing, rafting and abseiling can also be organised within the national park. Fishing is available in the nearby Towy Valley. Beach 30 miles. This is a great destination all year round, a marvellous choice for those who enjoy the great outdoors or simply want a relaxing holiday with peace and fresh air, but with many delights to discover in the local area.
Tranmire Cottage is beautifully furnished throughout, with an authentic country charm. Careful attention to detail means it is both very well-equipped and comfortable. It also has the most fabulous freestanding roll top bath with a rain shower over - a grand feature, and great for relaxing in after a day out.
The cottage sleeps six in three bedrooms, with up to three dogs welcome to join you; there are many delightful walks nearby you and they will love. The owners provide route suggestions as well as walking maps and books, and a guide packed with information about the area.
Throughout the ground floor there is underfloor heating, ensuring the large reception area can be used for drying as well as storing outdoor gear if necessary. The living room also has a large range with an open fire, great for cosying up in the winter months. This room bathed in light from the large sash window with window seat, which looks out into the lawned garden and secure paddock beyond, which is shared with the neighbouring owners. There is a dedicated seating area and BBQ within the garden, so that guests can make the most of sunny afternoons during their stay. You can collect eggs from the hens which are kept in a large enclosed paddock.
The quintessential country kitchen is ideal for creating home-cooked meals using these eggs or other fresh local ingredients from the many farm shops in the area. Savour time together around the dining table, planning the events for the days ahead over dinner.
Up on the first floor you have the most incredible master bedroom featuring that bath, as well as a king-size bed and a separate ensuite room with a toilet and washbasin. There is then also a double bedroom as well as a twin bedroom, both with wardrobes and drawers and served by a family bathroom which has a bath with shower over. All rooms have radiators or heated towel rails. Each bedroom is beautifully themed and named after different nearby dales: Rosedale – just to the North, the heart of the moors, Farndale – renowned for the blankets of daffodils that stretch out along the river through the spring, and Ryedale – which makes up the Vale of Pickering to the south.
Within Lastingham there is a historic church, several holy wells, and a village hall where community events, all open to visitors, are held. The Blacksmith’s Arms is extremely popular with locals and travellers alike for the quality and value of their food. Dogs are welcome in their large beer garden which has shelters and heaters, and a wood-fired pizza oven.
Lastingham is two miles from Hutton-le-Hole, creating a popular circular walk. That picturesque village has a deli/bakery, pub, teashops, craft workshops and the Ryedale Folk Museum. Nearby are the market towns of Helmsley, Kirkbymoorside and Pickering - all with attractive market squares, independent shops and quaint tea rooms. Malton, Yorkshire’s Food Capital, is only half an hour away, with regular markets and festivals.
The heritage steam railway from Pickering passes through Goathland and Grosmont on its way to Whitby – all great for a stop. English Heritage properties nearby include the castles at Pickering and Helmsley, the superb Rievaulx Abbey and Wheeldale Roman Road. Castle Howard, Eden Camp, the National Centre for Birds of Prey, and the National Trust’s Nunnington Hall are also popular attractions within easy reach.
Less than an hour away you have the incredible Yorkshire Coastline to discover, with picturesque villages and towns, golden sandy beaches and hidden coves to explore. Saltburn-by-the-Sea, Whitby, Robin Hood’s Bay and Scarborough all make for a fabulous day out during your stay. Those travelling from further afield may also want to take the opportunity to visit York.

Forest Lodge is situated in an idyllic setting in a quiet corner of the New Forest, enjoying direct forest access which is home to an abundance of wildlife. There is a riding school nearby offering hacks across the forest for both the beginner and more experienced rider. Forest Lodge is 4 miles from the market towns of Ringwood and Fordingbridge, and 12 miles from the historic city of Salisbury, with its magnificent cathedral and tallest spire in the UK. The coastal resorts and sandy beaches of Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch are approximately 15 miles away. Coarse fishing is available on the nearby River Avon. Historical attractions include many National Trust properties including Blickling Hall, Felbrigg Hall and Horsey Windpump. Other places of interest include Sheringham, 22 miles, home to the North Norfolk Steam Railway and the National Trust Sheringham Gardens. Or visit the city of Norwich with its cathedral, castle, museums, galleries, restaurants, cinema, theatre and shopping with two malls and market square. Beach 3 miles. These four superb holiday cottages nestle on the borders of Herefordshire and Worcestershire and are located on a 700-acre estate on the beautiful west side of the Malvern Hills. Netherley Hall Estate is a family-run farm specialising in the breeding of cattle and sheep and the surrounding area offers marvellous woodland walks.

The cottages are within 15 minutes’ drive of Malvern and have panoramic views of the wooded hills and unspoilt countryside; the location is ideal for nature enthusiasts, with an abundance of wildlife to observe as well as unrivalled birdwatching.

Three of the cottages are detached, whilst the fourth one is semi-detached, and the English oak timber used to restore their interiors was felled and machined from the extensive woodland on the estate itself. The furnishings and fittings for all the cottages have been supplied by local businesses, and during restoration, the owners have paid great attention to detail.
Parkers (ref RAAP) was originally built in 1610 and is a detached, listed building lovingly restored to the very highest standard and has several items of antique furniture. Parkers Lodge (ref RAAQ) is a smaller two-bedroomed detached cottage completed in 2006 and fitted out to a very high standard, whilst Brook House (ref RAAR) is a detached, listed building dating from around 1670 and emanates a marvellous ambience. It has landscaped gardens and a terrace with outstanding views overlooking Mathon Brook. The Bothy (ref UK12100) is semi-detached and was renovated in 2019. It has a kitchen/dining room, and through the archway there is a comfortable living room with French doors opening out to a beautiful garden area, with views over the farmland and farm animals.

Attractions to visit near the cottages include the Malvern Hills, Three Counties Showground and Malvern Theatre, as well as farm shops, gardens, gift shops, picnic areas and walking trails. Fishing, golf and horse riding are also available, as well as pick your own fruit (in season). Racecourses in the locality include Hereford, Worcester, Chepstow, Ludlow, Cheltenham, Wolverhampton, Warwick and Stratford. Shop 1 mile, pub 2 miles.

With brilliant transport links right outside the property, you can venture further afield into Canterbury, famous for it’s incredible cathedral or a historic trip to the Roman ruins of Reculver which are only 20 minutes away. You can also visit Margate for its golden sandy beaches only 25 minutes away.

Whitstable offers good trains connections to London, also as a alternative option to visit France for the day is easily accessible with regular ferry crossing between Dover to Calais in France. The property it’s 5 minutes away driving to the whitstable station
