From the town you can get onto the Monsal Trail, which is great for cycling as well as walking. If you haven’t got any bikes, bike hiring is available on the trail at Hassop café. Neighbouring towns such as Buxton and Matlock are lovely places to visit and explore, both offering their own independent characters, and of course not to be missed are nearby Chatsworth House and Gardens and Haddon Hall, both within 5 minutes’ drive of Bakewell.

    Bakewell is the largest town in the Peak District National Park and is the perfect base from which to explore everything that this beautiful part of the country has to offer. Skye House itself is located just a short 10-minute walk from Bakewell town centre.

    Head up a flight of steps to the front door where you enter the hallway of this beautiful home, finished to a high, modern standard. The property offers two lounges, the first main lounge leads off from the kitchen and has a Smart TV, the second lounge is classed as the snug with dark interiors, a wood burner and a Smart TV making it a lovely cosy spot to enjoy the evening together with friends and family. The kitchen is fully equipped and has all the appliances you should require during your stay such as dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine and Nespresso coffee maker and there is a large dining table with chairs and bench ensuring there is ample space for all guests to enjoy a meal together. The boot room which contains a downstairs toilet has a door to the rear path making it the ideal entrance after a day’s walking and is perfect for storing muddy boots and walking gear. For those guests who have brought their dog the owners have provided a dog bath with a hot and cold dog shower so there is no need to worry about muddy paws.

    On the first floor are three of the four bedrooms, these include a super king zip and link which can be made into two twin beds on request, a double bedroom, and a twin room with and Xbox for younger guests to enjoy. The family bathroom is located on the first floor with a bath and separate shower. On the second floor is the fourth and final bedroom with a super king zip and link bed, plus a pull out small since bed suitable for a child if this is required. The second bathroom is situated on the second floor with a bath with a shower attachment. Outside there is a lovely garden area which includes a pergola where you can sit and enjoy the view over fields. There is a raised patio area with high quality, comfortable furniture with sunshade and a BBQ so you can relax and enjoy dinning alfresco whilst watching the sheep in the field behind. Behind the house there is an additional bistro set located in the perfect spot to catch the early evening sun.

    Leave the car behind and explore Bakewell itself with its quaint and classic shop fronts and many independent shops. Visit the famous Bakewell pudding shop or any of the many other cafes, restaurants, and pubs that Bakewell has to offer. Take a stroll along the River Wye which runs through the centre of the town and walk over the love lock bridge. Bakewell has a popular market every Monday and a farmers’ market one Saturday a month.

    The picturesque towns of Matlock and Buxton are easily accessible from Bakewell. Bakewell is also the perfect base to visit Chatsworth House including its farmyard and playground for younger visitors, the farm shop and formal gardens. Haddon Hall is also 10 minutes’ drive away. For keen walkers you are perfectly located to access both the white and dark peak areas of the National Park. For the less adventurous there are local walks that can be done from the house including the Monsal trail which runs along the old Matlock to Buxton railway line and now is flat, car free walking and cycling route.
