An ideal base for outdoor enthusiasts, there are excellent routes for walkers and cyclists in the local area and you can pick up the traffic-free 8½ mile Monsal Trail which passes close to the edge of the village. Chatsworth estate with its impressive house and grounds is around a 10 minute drive, and other Peak District towns and villages within easy reach include the fascinating plague village of Eyam, 10 minutes, Buxton with its iconic Opera House, 20 minutes, and the beautiful honeypot village of Castleton famous for its caverns and Blue John Stone, 25 minutes.     From Puddle Duck Cottage you are just a short walk from Bakewell town centre where you can enjoy the markets, shops, cafés, restaurants and pubs, don’t forget a visit to the traditional Bakewell Pudding shop while you are there to taste the delights on offer. There are also many walks you can take from here; on foot you can head to Chatsworth House and the Monsal Trail. You will see some wonderful sites and panoramas of the Peak District landscape. There are other neighbouring towns such as Buxton and Matlock both offering fun parks and a mixture of independent and high street shops. Puddle Duck Cottage offers a really great base with a warming and welcoming cottage to return to after your action packed day in the heart of the Peaks.

The market towns of Ashbourne, Matlock and Wirksworth, with their variety of attractions, shops, coffee shops and restaurants, are all within a 30-minute drive. Chatsworth House and Ntional Trust Haddon Hall are just 15 minutes away, and for cyclists and walkers the famous Monsal Trail offers traffic-free peace. For the thrillseekers, Alton Towers theme park can be reached easily from this location.
