The three bedrooms are found on the first floor - a double with its own small terrace and access to the rear garden, a second double with an en-suite shower room, and a super kingsize bedroom that can be made up as a twin on request. A bathroom with a bath and shower cubicle is also on this level. On the ground floor you’ll find an open-plan, horseshoe-shaped living space with access via patio doors to the front terrace. The cosy living area is hidden away and has a comfy corner sofa and a Smart TV and the kitchen area is open to the dining room with its lovely wood burner. Adjacent is the utility room, where the main access to the property is, and also a handy downstairs toilet. Bishops Tawton is a small village with its own very popular thatched pub within walking distance. It is less than 2 miles from Barnstaple town centre, North Devon’s regional capital and ancient river-port town at the lowest crossing point of the River Taw flowing into the Bristol Channel. At the lovely waterside village of Instow, 7 miles to the west, you can enjoy the quiet inlet with sand dunes and a sandy beach along with a selection of pubs, restaurants and an excellent delicatessen. Across the water is Appledore with its traditional fisherman’s cottages and quaint village streets to simply wander around and take in the surroundings.
The historic port town of Bideford is just a further 2 miles away and offers a taste of traditional North Devon life with its weekly pannier market, much like Barnstaple’s. Barnstaple, EnglandSlade Barn is located in a lovely rural location just a couple of miles away from Exmoor National Park and 1 mile from the quiet hamlet of Charles. Situated in a tranquil valley on the owners’ working sheep and goat farm overlooking a forest and fields with deer and wildlife wandering past, and surrounded by quiet country lanes. Slade Barn has a lovely outlook, and the semi-detached barn conversion has accommodation on two levels with twin open staircases leading up to the first floor where you’ll find a nice little reading area, a twin bedroom and a shower room on one side and two further bedrooms on the other. The fourth bedroom is en-suite and on the ground floor. The kitchen area has everything you’ll need for your stay, whilst the ground floor benefits from underfloor heating. Outside there’s an ample private lawn and patio garden with outdoor furniture.
The village of Brayford is 2 miles from the cottage with its 900-year-old Church of All Saints High Bray set on the hill above the Bray Valley. There are also many charming village pubs and restaurants to explore nearby. The village is close to the dramatic North Devon coast with some of the best beaches in the country – a day trip to Woolacombe and Saunton are not to be missed. The South West coastal path and the Tarka Trail are superb for walking or running and the latter is excellent for cycling too; the coastline is varied, dramatic and interesting to say the least. RHS Rosemoor, Marwood Gardens, Arlington Court, Clovelly, Exmoor Zoo, the Combe Martin Dinosaur Park and Hartland Abbey are all within driving distance and for the keen golfers, Portmore Golf club just outside Barnstaple and Saunton Golf club are both within easy reach too.
