Refurbished June 2021, this beautifully presented 17th-century cottage has been thoughtfully decorated to show off some of the original features, including a stunning oak beamed ceiling. The heart of the house is downstairs and features an open plan living room, kitchen and dining space, offering an open fire for those cosy nights in. Upstairs has a modern bathroom, and there are two very comfortable, good-sized bedrooms comprising a double, with lovely views and plenty of storage, and a full-size bunk bedroom. There are open views from the upstairs windows as far as the eye can see and the changing colours of the seasons are a sight to behold when you wake in the morning. It really makes this cottage one to remember.
Osprey Cottage is an ideal escape from the hustle and bustle of 21st century life, whether you are in the lakes for relaxation, culture, sightseeing or adventure, you are in a prime location within a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Lake District National Park. Situated in the popular village of Bassenthwaite, the property benefits from amazing views looking south towards Bassenthwaite Lake, Catbells and the Borrowdale Valley and takes in some stunning sights of the surrounding Northern Lake District Fells. Immediately behind the property is a wood with lots of wildlife, including red squirrels, osprey and other birds of prey, and from the top, a sensational view of Skiddaw. Within a short walk of the property you have two pubs offering great food and local ales. It is just 8 miles from the popular towns of Keswick and Cockermouth.

Keswick is on the shores of Derwent Water, which offers an abundance of shopping and dining experiences, as well as a variety of cultural hotspots and tourist attractions including the Pencil Museum, the Theatre on the Lake, Keswick Convention Centre and Keswick Museum and Art Gallery. Cockermouth is a quieter 800 year old market town, again with lots of shops and places to eat. It is the birthplace of William Wordsworth and another famous son is Fletcher Christian who led the mutiny on ’The Bounty’. Cockermouth sits on the junction of two major rivers Derwent and Cocker and is the home to Jennings Brewery.

The property has no rear garden and although there is a lovely garden which can be seen from the rear windows, it does not belong to this cottage. Shops 8 miles, pub and restaurant ¾ mile. Rosedean is a fantastic property with most of its living and sleeping areas on the ground floor enabling easy access for most. Positioned in the desirable village of Ireby, near Bassenthwaite you’ll love the rural village lifestyle. With an amazing country pub just down a quiet road, this idyllic village setting offers easy access to Cockermouth, Bassenthwaite, Keswick and the Northern Fells. For sleeping arrangements there is a kingsize bedroom with comfortable bed, plus a double bedroom with en-suite shower room on the ground floor with plenty of storage and hanging space, plus there’s a ground floor family bathroom. On the first floor, there is the third bedroom with twin beds. Back on the ground floor you find the open plan living/dining/kitchen area all wrapped around the wood burner. You can relax on the sofas in front of the Smart TV and wood burner or get together for a meal in the kitchen which has all the appliances that you will need.
This charming property is nestled in the centre of the quiet, picturesque village of Ireby near Caldbeck and Uldale. Ireby is right on the border of the Lake District National Park, in fact the border crosses about twenty steps from the door. From here there are lovely walks and cycle routes nearby. If you love the outdoors, this village is in a prime location, well connected by the road networks, you’re just a short drive to many of the amazing towns and tourist hotspots that the Northern Lakes has to offer. Just 10 minutes to Bassenthwaite, 5 miles, 20 minutes to Keswick and Cockermouth, 12 miles. If you fancy being more active, the Lake District Fells’ renowned walking and cycling trails are on your doorstep offering both gentle and more challenging endeavours enabling you to take in the abundance of birds and wildlife this area has to offer. The historic, alluring village of Bassenthwaite with its magnificent lake and access to Skiddaw, one of the highest mountains in England, is a 10-minute drive. The village is served by a farm shop selling fresh milk and seasonal produce. Beach 15 miles.

Totally get away from it all and truly back to nature in one of the Lake District’s most tranquil and unspoilt beauty spots. You’ll soon see why it’s a heavenly haven for wildlife. Wander from your doorstep into Dodd Woods for a spot of osprey watching, and fishing is also available nearby. Enjoy sharing your walk with red squirrels and your waterside with wildfowl, or simply pull on your boots, grab your gear and get stuck into some serious walks all from the front door. You can explore this stunning area on foot, yet you are only a few miles from Keswick, Cockermouth, and the surrounding Lakeland Fells. Visit The Lakes Distillery, producers of fine whisky, gin and vodka and which offers tasting tours, always a hit. Just 6 miles away is the popular town of Keswick on the shores of Derwent Water, with an abundance of dining and shopping experiences as well as a mix of cultural hotspots and tourist attractions. Visit The Theatre by the Lake which features award-winning arts and drama on the shores of Derwent Water and the mind-boggling world of The Puzzling Place, fun for all ages.

The moment you open the front door of this charming cottage you step into a spacious living room with a log burner as the focal point, inviting you to sit down with your feet up after a busy day’s fun. The next room you encounter is the dining room which has great light and views of the enclosed garden, and off the dining room is the stylish kitchen, which is well appointed and allows you to rustle up anything from a simple sandwich to a Sunday roast dinner.

Ireby lies in North Cumbria and has a wealth of great scenery on the doorstep offering an ideal backdrop for walkers and cyclists alike, it also has a variety of activities and attractions within half and hours’ drive, including the charming towns of Cockermouth and Keswick which offer the chance to jump in feet first with river trips, kayaking and canoeing. Bring your trip onto dry land with gorge walking, mountain scrambling, caving, and mine-climbing. Other attractions include stately homes, wildlife parks, climbing centres or maybe the pencil museum is right up your street. Whether it’s a family break or a few days with friends, there is plenty to occupy those active members of the group or simply enjoy the peace and tranquillity of Bassenthwaite lake, there’s something for everyone and plenty to come back for time and time again.
