Adjoining Knoppingsholme Farmhouse, the open plan kitchen/diner/lounge offers the cosy comfort of a wood burning stove ensuring a warm welcome awaits guests whatever the season. Knoppingsholme Stable is easily accessible; it’s situated on the quiet route from Bellingham to Kielder, and lies within the heart of the beautiful North Tyne Valley, set in the Northumberland National Park.

No 2 Railway Cuttings, one of a pair next to each other melds traditional with contemporary to make it the perfect location for those wishing to get away and unwind. This elegant stone-built, semi-detached, single-storey cottage is situated at Falstone Station. Along with the owner’s home it is one of only a few cottages at this location, which was once part of the former Border Counties Railway line. The line has long gone but reminders of the route that linked England with Scotland are still there. It is only 520 yards from the local pub serving real ale and good food. Opposite the pub is a small tearoom/shop in the pretty village of Falstone. The cottage has one double and one twin bedroom and sleeps four people in an elegant style. The underfloor heating will keep you comfortable whatever the time of year. The décor is contemporary and comfortable with a kitchen area that has everything you’ll need to make your stay enjoyable and relaxing.
Railway Cuttings is situated inside the Northumberland International Dark Sky Park. Its lack of light pollution makes it one of the best areas in Britain to enjoy the sky at night. Use binoculars to marvel at the Milky Way; enjoy the Northern Lights or perhaps you’ll be lucky and glimpse a spectacular meteor shower. For those who want to make the most of their ’Dark Sky’ stay, a visit to the Kielder Observatory is a must but book ahead to guarantee a time that suits you best. One of the big attractions of holidaying in this area of rural Northumberland is the range of activities so close at hand. Its close proximity to Kielder Water makes it a must-visit for walkers, sailors and cyclists. A trip over to the heritage coast Area of Natural Beauty makes for a lovely day out, also steeped in history with plenty of castles and miles of sandy beaches. Set by the Northumberland Dark Sky National Park, the least populated of the UK National Parks with a diverse landscape attracting visitors from all over the world, steeped in history in this ancient unspoilt place. This beautiful unspoilt area is close to Kielder Forest and Water Park which is fantastic for water enthusiasts, mountain bikers, cyclists and walkers where days out with breathtaking scenery is a daily treat. Kielder Observatory is also worth a visit. The Scottish Carter Bar with easy access to the Scottish Borders is only 18 miles should you wish to venture into Scotland during your stay. The small village of Otterburn is 9 miles with a good outdoor shop based in Otterburn Mill.

Day trips over to the coast don’t take too long and make a lovely change where you can visit the beaches and castles of Northumberland, perhaps stopping at Alnwick Castle and explore the cobbled streets. In 2018, Northumberland was voted the best county to holiday by the British Tourism Awards. Wherever you go in and around the county you will be sure of a real ’Geordie’ welcome from the locals. This large village has a local butcher, supermarket and all the amenities you need during your stay.
