Boscastle is one of the most scenic coastal villages in North Cornwall and is perfect for those who want to walk and discover the amazing scenery. It has a lovely small harbour which was built to handle the slate trade from nearby Delabole quarries and is located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The medieval harbour is also maintained by the National Trust. Nearby Tintagel is inextricably linked to the legend of King Arthur and is steeped in history. There are many pretty coves and inlets to discover along this coastline including Crackington Haven, Boscastle and Morwenstow. A little further to the south is the fishing port of Padstow and quaint Port Isaac of Doc Martin fame, and 15 miles to the north is the fabulous coastal town of Bude.
If you fancy crossing over the border into Devon and enjoy open spaces, then Dartmoor National Park is 30 miles or so to the east where you can enjoy a day of walking and discover the vast moorland and roam the craggy landscape, defined by forests, rivers, wetlands and rock formations or tors. Or search the Neolithic tombs, Bronze Age stone circles and abandoned medieval farmhouses in this amazing landscape! Beach 2¾ miles. Pub and restaurant 50 yards.
