As you enter the grounds off Bury Road and through a gated driveway, you will be welcomed into the elegant foyer, boasting a beautiful oak staircase, chandeliers and an ornate fireplace. With doors leading to two reception rooms, games room, dining room, two ground floor bedrooms with private W.C and a large kitchen/family room, which has apart glazed vaulted ceiling with exposed oak beams. The first floor comprises a mezzanine balcony overlooking the grand entrance hall, an array of doubles, single and family bedrooms with either en-suites or traditional wash hand basins, three separate family bathrooms. Externally there is an attached ground floor outbuilding with a further two bedrooms and shower room, with access through a side door into the kitchen/family room. Ramsey is a market town and is approximately 9 miles north of Huntingdon and 30 miles from Cambridge city centre. There are plenty of attractions, both locally and further afield, from Ramsey rural museum, Fenland light railway and Ramsey Abbey walled gardens to all that Cambridge has to offer. You can also reach Thetford Forest in just over an hour’s drive.

Origins for The Anchor date back to the early 1700s, when it was originally built to provide lodgings and sustenance for the workers during draining of the Fens and its New Bedford River. This was actually a straight canal, formerly used by merchants to transport their goods, and is now used only for recreational purpose and acts as a natural haven for wild birds.
Situated on the edge of The Fens, the Anchor is surrounded by scenic tracks and routes for walkers, runners, amblers, cyclists, rowers and fishing, all benefiting from the stunning views of the River Great Ouse and its meadows. The property nestles quietly in the small rural hamlet of Sutton, just 15 minutes’ drive from historical Ely and 30 minutes’ drive from the University City of Cambridge. Accessed via a rough track, they are surrounded by vast fields and big open skies, offering stunning views of the countryside beyond. The historical market town of St Ives, which sits on the river Great Ouse, is just 5 miles away, and has lots of eateries, shops and interesting places to visit. You can also catch a bus from St Ives via The Guided Bus Route to Cambridge where you will find lots more to explore including the famous colleges, the Fitzwilliam Museum, the botanical gardens and of course, one of the most popular things to do in Cambridge is to punt along the River Cam, which runs through the heart of the city. There is plenty of opportunity for great walks and visiting nature reserves within the area as well as a big children’s play park in the village to enjoy.
