Accessed via a rough track, they are surrounded by vast fields and big open skies, offering stunning views of the countryside beyond. You can relax outside on the patio area, watching the sun set in this peaceful, rural location. These four lodges each have an open-plan kitchen, dining and living area with French doors leading out onto a private patio. The contemporary living area is equipped with a Smart TV, sofa and sofa bed, and offers picturesque views over Rook Lake, especially during the morning sunrise. There are two cosy twin/double bedrooms and a shower room.
Anglers can enjoy their own exclusive fishing platform right in front of the lodge, and can fish the well-established specimen lake, where carp reaching up to 28 lbs can be caught.
Rookery Waters has a café with licenced bar and fishing tackle shop on site and there is a golf course, pub and village shop all within a 10-minute drive.
The surrounding area at Rookery Waters offers lots of public footpaths and bridleways to explore and is ideal if you want to bring your dog with you. There is a wetland conservation area where you can spot birds such as lapwing, reed warblers, little plover and oystercatchers.
The historical market town of St Ives, which sits on the river Great Ouse, is just 5 miles away, and has lots of eateries, shops and interesting places to visit. You can also catch a bus from St Ives via The Guided Bus Route to Cambridge where you will find lots more to explore including the famous colleges, the Fitzwilliam Museum, the botanical gardens and of course, one of the most popular things to do in Cambridge is to punt along the River Cam, which runs through the heart of the city. Close by lies Godmanchester, a historic and scenic town situated on the River Great Ouse, in the Ouse Valley. There has been a settlement here since Viking times and the town retains much of its Roman history where history buffs can visit Porch Museum, as it is home to many local artefacts and is a treasure trove of information about the history of the town. Also a ‘must visit’ is the university city of Cambridge with its guided walks, numerous museums, including the famous Fitzwilliam, punting on the River Cam, open top bus tours and great shops and restaurants. In fact, to fit it all in, you will need to make several visits, and Cambridge’s network of park and ride systems make this very easy to do. Alternatively you can pop in to Huntingdon and take the train, which also runs to Ely with its magnificent cathedral, or even be in the heart of London in around an hour. Even closer lies Grafham Water, which offers water sports and is a great place for a leisurely stroll, picnic or family day out. - Stretham, EnglandChittering Farm sits in the privacy of the owners’ arable farm accessed by a private road and is conveniently situated between Cambridge and Ely. The house was rebuilt from an old barn and affords every comfort for an enjoyable and relaxing stay. Situated on a busy working farm the property is an excellent choice for large family get togethers or friendly reunions that require spacious accommodation. It is the ideal base to explore Cambridgeshire, Suffolk and Norfolk. There are cycle routes to Cambridge and Ely easily accessed from the farm. Some guests may prefer to relax in the private (unfenced) 1-acre garden with its 4-acre paddocks and enjoy the facilities on-site or nearby.

Ely Leisure village 5½ miles has swimming pools, multi-screen cinema, health club, eateries and a driving range with 9 hole golf course and fishing is available locally. A stay here will also provide the opportunity to enjoy the rural location of the farm, with farm and river walks, bird watching and cycling. Located on the edge of the farm is Stretham Old Engine. Erected in 1831, it is a well-preserved example of a steam engine used to drain the farm in the early 20th century.
The city of Cambridge is 10 miles away, famous for its colleges, museums, tours and botanical gardens, where visitors can also try their hand at punting on the River Cam or enjoy a wealth of shops, cafés and restaurants. The city of Ely with markets and local shopping is 6 miles away in the other direction, steeped in history with its impressive medieval cathedral and long river frontage where you can enjoy a boat trip or riverside walk. If you fancy a trip to the beach the North Norfolk coast is less than 50 miles away, the Royal Sandringham Estate less than 40 miles, and Thetford Forest, famous for its walk and cycle routes only 35 miles away. National Trust properties can be found at nearby Wicken Fen, 5 miles, and Anglesey Abbey and gardens 13 miles.
