Esgair Barn is in the middle of the owner’s land, which you are welcome to explore and picnic in. There is a little-used footpath right outside the barn and spectacular views of the Brecon Beacons from the top field. There are trees to climb and a shallow stream (behind a gate). There’s a bonfire area in one field if you get the urge to toast marshmallows, the owners can supply suitable wood. Please note that the barn has been recently finished in 2023 and the landscaping is still being perfected!
Internally, there is a large porch with space for wet coats and muddy boots, a lockable bike store, and a bath to soak in on your return. The living room is a grand double-height room with sofas and a big table to seat you all in comfort. The windows look out over the fields and stream to one side, and a small gravelled private patio on the other. There’s a wood burner to keep you extra cosy, and some good old-fashioned board games and jigsaws in case it rains. There is a TV, but you’ll be too busy watching the birds and squirrels! The kitchen is well equipped with an island and range and there is also a wet room and a bedroom on the ground floor. The other three bedrooms are on the first floor - a kingsize with an en-suite, a twin bedroom with a skylight for watching the stars, and a comfortable double bedroom. There is also a retro-style family bathroom on the first floor.
The barn is ideal for family gatherings as well as groups of friends. There is plenty of room to eat together, sit, chat, play games and have fun. Esgair Barn is a wonderful place for kids. They can paddle in the (shallow) stream, climb trees, listen out for the resident tawny owls, and see the Milky Way. There is a pet alpaca whose bedroom is close to the barn. He is sociable and curious, but please note that he can be a bit nibbly and he’s not totally keen on men. Please treat him carefully and with respect and ask if you would like to be introduced. The owners do sometimes host sheep from a neighbouring farm, so guests are asked to close the gates after passing through them and to keep and dog on a lead outside the barn.

This is a beautiful retreat to really get away from it all. The village, which is located in the Upper Tywi Valley boasts an award winning real ale pub with a reputation for great food, so good the Duchess of Cornwall has popped in for a drink as HRH Prince Charles has a country residence nearby.
The local area is steeped in history and tales, one such being the legend of highwayman Twm Siôn Cati, who hid out in caves near the village. The county of Carmarthenshire, known as ’The Garden of Wales’ has become a big draw for walkers, cyclists, anglers and lovers of the outdoors and is the largest county in southern Wales, stretching from Carmarthen Bay in the south to the western Brecon Beacons and Cambrian Mountains in the north. It offers rich landscapes, gardens, ancient castles, wildlife and sandy beaches as well as market towns brimming with local produce, chic shopping and eateries.
Llandeilo is one such town, less than 30 minutes drive away and the market town of Llandovery is just 10 minutes drive. The property comprises of a living room with a cosy wood burner and Smart TV, leading onto the dining room which looks out over the bay. The kitchen is well equipped and leads to the back garden. There is a second living room with a TV and double sofa bed. The bathroom has been renovated to a high standard and on the first floor is the master bedroom with views over the harbour, there is a great little window seat in this room. The second bedroom is a twin bedroom and again has views over the harbour.
This beautiful cottage has been renovated to a high standard throughout, the property overlooks the harbour of Burry Port, an ideal location to explore the area. Pembrey Country Park is a short distance from the property and a great day out for the family, there is also a dry ski slope here and toboggan run! The Gower Peninsula is approximately 20 miles from the property and Rhossilli Bay and Worms Head are a fantastic day out, walk out to Worms Head and you can see for miles, look out for the seals and the giant jellyfish that can be seen from the cliffs.
For those looking for some history, Kidwelly Castle is 5 miles from the property. There is an award winning golf course for those enthusiasts just 4 miles from the property, or walk across to the harbour and enjoy a light snack and drink in the local restaurant. You can also walk to the lighthouse, there are some lovely views to be had from here. For the cyclists in the group, why not make use of the miles of traffic-free cycle track that runs along the coastline and is literally on the doorstep. Beach 350 yards. Please note if sleeping in the living area there are no blinds over the roof lantern in adjacent kitchen-diner, therefore light will come through in the early morning however it’s just perfect for lying in bed and stargazing in the world renowned Brecon Beacons Dark Sky Reserve. From the living area there are French doors leading on to the slate patio area of the garden. The boot/utility room has a washing machine and tumble dryer, microwave and Nespresso coffee machine. There is also a separate shower room with walk-in shower and heated towel rail. There are two bedrooms, one with a king size bed and Smart TV, and a twin room, both with their own en-suite bathrooms.

The outside space is just fabulous, with a large slate patio complete with luxury outdoor furniture overlooking Llandeilo and the River Towy and an enclosed grassed area. Up to two friendly dogs are welcome at the property, but please be aware that there are sheep and cows grazing opposite the property so it may be wise keeping them on a lead when not in your enclosed garden. There is off road parking which can be found at the side of the property.
