Lying peacefully down a quiet country lane between the bustling coastal resorts of Pendine and Amroth, these traditional Welsh barns (refs 29463, 30251, 30252, 30521 and 30522) have been restored to a very good standard and make a perfect touring base for couples or families looking for a seaside getaway. Situated on a small holding complex with a small farm shop on-site, the former barns dating back to the 18th century retain much of their original charm and character, with each room having comfortable furnishings and amenities for that unforgettable holiday experience. Your four-legged friend will be just as happy with a dedicated 5-acre enclosed dog run field and lots of doggy extras. Dating back to the 1850s this beautiful holiday home was originally the Mill Keeper’s Cottage at Cleifion Mill. The cottage has been modernised throughout with plenty of character and charm restored too.
Sleeping up to six guests, the accommodation is comfortable and spacious throughout. There are three bedrooms and a shower room on the first floor. On the ground floor, you’ll enter through the porch and find a handy utility room with a toilet and a separate kitchen which leads through to the main living room. The living room is cosy and has a lovely wood burner surrounded by comfortable seating and a wall-mounted Smart TV to sit back and relax after a day out exploring. Across the hallway, there is a separate dining room and a conservatory. The conservatory leads out to the enclosed garden where you’ll find a decked seating area overlooking the lawned garden. At the front of the property, there is a shared driveway and space to park up to two cars.
Located on the edge of St Clears in Carmarthenshire, this beautiful property is ideally situated for exploring the local countryside, with plenty of walks to enjoy right from your doorstep. St Clears is on the Wales Coastal Path, a popular stopping point between Llansteffan and Laugharne. The quaint town is a typical Welsh town with independent shops, pubs and local crafts on offer. It is also just 25 minutes’ drive to the famous seaside town of Tenby.
Those looking to explore more of the local area will not be disappointed. Carmarthenshire is full of beautiful coastlines and beaches, picturesque market towns, and is steeped in history! There are many impressive castles, and heritage sites to visit, including Laugharne – the hometown of famous Welsh poet, Dylan Thomas! The setup is ideal for families or small groups but can accommodate up to eight guests. The living room comfortably seats six guests for dining and has a cosy seating area centred around the character fireplace. There are two super kingsize bedrooms on the ground floor and a family bathroom. Stairs from the living room lead to two further bedrooms and a separate shower room. Outside a private garden surrounds the cottage, a small, decked seating area just off the kitchen, and a seating area with hot tub plus lawn at the back.

There are plenty of places to visit within a short drive, including the historic town of Kidwelly, FFos Las Racecourse or Pembrey Country Park. There are two bedrooms to the ground floor, the first of which has excellent access, with doors out to a lawned patio area, an adjacent bathroom with bath and walk-in shower and flexible sleeping arrangements with a kingsize bed that can be split to two singles. The second ground floor bedroom is also flexible with a double bed to comfortably sleep two adults as well as a bespoke single bunk, this offers additional sleeping space for a child. The third bedroom is on the first floor of the barn and oozes luxury. The super kingsize bed shares stunning views of the countryside and boasts its own luxury en-suite shower room with a fully tiled walk-in shower.
Despite the rural setting, Y Gelli is perfectly placed to explore some of the nearby attractions. In under 30 minutes by car, you could be exploring the beach and country park at Pembrey, visiting picturesque Welsh towns along the River Towy like Carmarthen and Llandeilo, or immersing yourself in history at Kidwelly Castle! If that’s not enough, you can visit the world’s largest single-span glasshouse at the National Botanic Garden of Wales, tee-off at one of the nearby golf clubs, or check out some horse racing at Ffos Las Racecourse. A roman amphitheatre remains in the town, one of only 7 in the UK. Legend has it that Carmarthen was the home of Merlin, the wizard of Arthurian folklore; something lauded annually at a summer festival celebrating all things myth and magical at Carmarthen Park. Discover the charm and character of Ty Lewis Cottage nestled on the edge of the coastal village of Pwll complete with a village shop, traditional Welsh pub and walking distance to the Millennium coastal footpath that connects this stunning coastline. The ancient town of Kidwelly is a 15-minute drive away and is home to one of the finest preserved Norman castles in Wales, along this wonderful coast is Pembrey Country Park, set in 500 acres of woodland where you can learn to dry ski and toboggan, there’s a children’s play area and 8 miles of golden sands at Cefn Sidan beach. Dylan Thomas’ stomping ground and the township of Laugharne are well worth a trip. Here you can visit his writing shed and see his local pub. The famous seaside walled town of Tenby and the Gower Peninsula are a great day out and within an hour’s drive.
