Conveniently located close to the spectacular Millennium Coastal Path, guests can explore the scenic Pembrey Country Park with eight miles of golden sands at Cefn Sidan, Pembrey must be the only place in Europe where visitors can sunbathe, swim and hunt for shipwrecks on the beaches, then experience the thrill of a toboggan run or race down the parks 130m dry ski slope. Enjoy a round of golf at the famous Jack Nicklaus course, Llanelli, or the Ashburnam links course, Pembrey. Watch live sport at the Llanelli Scarlet’s Rugby Stadium and nearby Ffos Las Racecourse. The scenic Tywi Valley is just a short drive away and is home to numerous majestic sites dotted along its glistening river, where you’ll find the 12th-century castles of Carreg Cennen and Dryslwyn and the enchanting gardens and nature reserve of Dinefwr Castle and Par. Maesydderwen, meaning oak field, started life as a working farm and later became a country inn, but is now a collection of delightful holiday cottages, beautifully situated within the living landscape of the Brecon Beacons National Park. The charming market town of Llandeilo, with chic shops and an array of good restaurants, cafes and pubs, is just over three miles away. This holiday property has CCTV and has been renovated by the owners who live on-site, and boasts a fantastic hot tub and comfortable accommodation ideal for families, friends or couples. The property has been awarded Bronze in the Carmarthenshire Tourism Awards for self catering accommodation of the year 2018/2019 (3 units or more). There is an abundance of wildlife to see and enjoy from the grounds including woodpecker, siskin, marsh tit, goldfinch, nuthatch and wild roe deer. Red kites can also often be seen soaring overhead and there is a feeding station a 20-minute drive away. You can leave the car behind and enjoy wonderful walks directly from the cottage. If you can drag yourself away from Maesydderwen, there are the beautiful castles of Carreg Cennen and Dinefwr nearby, and the dammed lake of Llyn Y Fan Fach at the western border of the Black Mountains. The National Botanic Garden of Wales, 11 miles, with its great glasshouse dome at its centre, is a year round attraction, and within the Brecon Beacons National Park there are masses of paths and trails for walkers, runners, cyclists, mountain bikers, golfers, horse riders and wildlife watchers. Adrenaline sports such as paragliding, canoeing, rafting and abseiling can also be organised within the national park. Fishing is available in the nearby Towy Valley. Beach 30 miles. This lovely 1900s barn was formerly a cow shed and milking parlour, and has been converted to a high standard with luxury fixtures and fittings. It is situated on a working beef and sheep farm with a pedigree Hereford suckler herds, sheep and goats and lies adjacent to the owners’ home. This semi-detached property is all one level and has a family bathroom, a double bedroom with en-suite facilities and a twin bedroom. The corridor leads to an open plan living space and the fabulous fitted kitchen has all the necessary appliances you could need. There is also a lovely breakfast bar for you to enjoy your meals whilst looking at the open countryside through the patio doors. The living area has a wood burner, ideal for keeping you cosy on those colder evenings, and patio doors lead out to a patio area and the garden, great for exercising the dogs, and children. After a long walk, imagine relaxing in the private hot tub just looking out onto the rolling green hills – perfect!
Ammanford itself has a coffee roastery serving fantastic coffee as well as breakfasts. There is also a large selection of shops, supermarkets and local pubs, some serving good food and with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and castles. Pantyffynnon station is within walking distance of the property on Heart of Wales line to Shrewsbury or Cardiff in the other
direction.
There is also plenty to do in the area, with the beaches of Gower approximately 18 miles. The lovely old market town of Llandeilo, situated on the River Towy, is just 6 miles away with boutiques and galleries, and hosts various festivals throughout the year, including the Jazz Festival and the Gin Festival. With uninterrupted, stunning views and direct access to wonderful walks, Gwar Nant Cottage, renovated by the owners, is a very stylish holiday home lying in an enviable position within Rhandirmwyn, the small Carmarthenshire village with a big reputation. The garden and terrace of the cottage is a great place to relax and watch the varied visiting birds, and for cosy nights, the lounge with wood burning stove is the perfect place to be. This is a beautiful retreat to really get away from it all. The village, which is located in the Upper Tywi Valley boasts an award winning real ale pub with a reputation for great food, so good the Duchess of Cornwall has popped in for a drink as HRH Prince Charles has a country residence nearby.
The local area is steeped in history and tales, one such being the legend of highwayman Twm Siôn Cati, who hid out in caves near the village. The county of Carmarthenshire, known as ’The Garden of Wales’ has become a big draw for walkers, cyclists, anglers and lovers of the outdoors and is the largest county in southern Wales, stretching from Carmarthen Bay in the south to the western Brecon Beacons and Cambrian Mountains in the north. It offers rich landscapes, gardens, ancient castles, wildlife and sandy beaches as well as market towns brimming with local produce, chic shopping and eateries.
Llandeilo is one such town, less than 30 minutes drive away and the market town of Llandovery is just 10 minutes drive. Other places of interest nearby include National Trust Dolaucothi Goldmines (tours available) and the lakes of Llyn Brianne and Llyn-y-Fan Fach, the lake that gave rise to the Arthurian legend of the Lady of the Lake. Fishing, horse riding and yoga lessons are available nearby.

Come and enjoy the delights of Tynval, nestled on the edge of the rural hamlet of Bronwydd Arms near the market town of Carmarthen. This beautiful, single-storey barn conversion was once the milking parlour and part of the once busy Cwmgwili Mill Farm, which is steeped in history and dates back to the 1600’s. The mill, which is on the side of the farmhouse, stopped working in the 1950’s. The mill first produced flour and then was converted into a woollen mill which produced blankets for the war. The farm was built by the owners of Cwmgwili mansion, which is a short walk up the hill, and served as the source of food for the estate owners many years ago. The owners have meticulously restored Tynval and retained all the quirks and charm throughout, with vaulted ceilings, beams, exposed stone walls and solid teak flooring offering a superb barn for your family to enjoy.
Here at TynVal we are trying to be energy self-sufficient to reduce our carbon foot-print, you will notice we have solar panels on the roof which we can produce up to 7kwh and we can store 10kwh with our battery storage,every thing within the cottage is powered by electric so during the summer months we don’t need to take any energy from the grid, so we would ask guests kindly if they would use the energy we produce wisely.
It is just a 5-minute drive from the market town of Carmarthen and 15 minutes from the beautiful seaside village of Llansteffan, where the famous salmon river, the Towy, joins Carmarthen Bay. Here you can also visit the ruined castle, dating back to the early 12th-century, along with the Iron Age earthworks still visible to this day and which once controlled an important river crossing of the Towy. Enjoy a walk to discover this castle and its epic views overlooking the sand flats and the Towy river mouth.

Carmarthen has everything on offer with many restaurants specializing in home cooked organic produce, craft shops, galleries, a cinema and traditional markets. Nearby is the Gwili Steam railway and the National Botanical Gardens of Wales, which is home to the largest span glass house in Europe. Aberglasney, a few minutes away, is is said to be one of the finest gardens in Wales and surrounds a restored Grade II listed mansion which is perfect for cream teas whilst enjoying the scenery.
Travelling west is the historic township of Laugharne, the hometown of the famous poet Dylan Thomas, here you can view his writing shed, his former home and enjoy some fine locally brewed ales in his favourite pub.

The property comprises of a living room with a cosy wood burner and Smart TV, leading onto the dining room which looks out over the bay. The kitchen is well equipped and leads to the back garden. There is a second living room with a TV and double sofa bed. The bathroom has been renovated to a high standard and on the first floor is the master bedroom with views over the harbour, there is a great little window seat in this room. The second bedroom is a twin bedroom and again has views over the harbour.

Pembrey Country Park is a short distance from the property and a great day out for the family, there is also a dry ski slope here and toboggan run! The Gower Peninsula is approximately 20 miles from the property and Rhossilli Bay and Worms Head are a fantastic day out, walk out to Worms Head and you can see for miles, look out for the seals and the giant jellyfish that can be seen from the cliffs.
For those looking for some history, Kidwelly Castle is 5 miles from the property. There is an award winning golf course for those enthusiasts just 4 miles from the property, or walk across to the harbour and enjoy a light snack and drink in the local restaurant. You can also walk to the lighthouse, there are some lovely views to be had from here. For the cyclists in the group, why not make use of the miles of traffic-free cycle track that runs along the coastline and is literally on the doorstep. Beach 350 yards.
