Pendegy Mill lies within a wooded valley on the edge of the rural village of Llanybri, nestled in the Carmarthenshire countryside. Sited a convenient distance from the historic coastal village of Llansteffan, it is just half a mile from the West Wales Coastal Path. These two beautiful cottages, situated next to the owners’ home, are the perfect base to explore all that Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire have to offer. Mill Cottage was a working water mill; the mill race running into the babbling stream flowing through the beautiful grounds out to the River Taff and into the Carmarthen Bay. These two Welsh stone barns, The Granary and Mill Cottage, have been lovingly restored and offer an idyllic holiday location. They have been finished to a very good standard throughout and have been thoughtfully furnished. On the ground floor is an open plan living space which is superb for social and family gatherings. Take in the coastal air outside in the shared lawns and garden - the perfect spot to dine al fresco and enjoy a delicious meal cooked on the BBQ.
Take a trip into nearby Llansteffan for freshly brewed coffee or travel back in time with a visit to Llansteffan Castle which is steeped in history, and boasts commanding views across the estuary of the River Towy and out towards the Gower Peninsula. Travelling west, a trip to Laugharne is a must. Here you can visit the house and writing shed of famous poet Dylan Thomas, or stop for a refreshing drink and meal at one of the local pubs he would often frequent. Further along this unique coastline is the village of Pendine, which boasts 7 miles of beautiful sandy beach where the land speed record was set in the famous car, Babs. The car was excavated from the Pendine Sands and can be seen today at the Museum of Speed in the town. Within a 40-minute drive you can visit Carmarthen, the National Botanical Gardens of Wales, the famous walled seaside town of Tenby, or enjoy a day out at Wales’ largest theme park, Oakwood. Vibrant and cosmopolitan Swansea is a 25-minute drive away, home to the famous Mumbles, gateway to the beautiful Gower Peninsula with its pristine beaches and one of Dylan Thomas’s preferred stamping grounds, as well as a great place to get fresh seafood. These sympathetically decorated character cottages are located adjacent to the owner’s home who will be on hand to ensure your comfort. Maesydderwen, meaning oak field, started life as a working farm and later became a country inn, but is now a collection of delightful holiday cottages, beautifully situated within the living landscape of the Brecon Beacons National Park. The charming market town of Llandeilo, with chic shops and an array of good restaurants, cafes and pubs, is just over three miles away. This holiday property has CCTV and has been renovated by the owners who live on-site, and boasts a fantastic hot tub and comfortable accommodation ideal for families, friends or couples. The property has been awarded Bronze in the Carmarthenshire Tourism Awards for self catering accommodation of the year 2018/2019 (3 units or more). There is an abundance of wildlife to see and enjoy from the grounds including woodpecker, siskin, marsh tit, goldfinch, nuthatch and wild roe deer. Red kites can also often be seen soaring overhead and there is a feeding station a 20-minute drive away. You can leave the car behind and enjoy wonderful walks directly from the cottage. If you can drag yourself away from Maesydderwen, there are the beautiful castles of Carreg Cennen and Dinefwr nearby, and the dammed lake of Llyn Y Fan Fach at the western border of the Black Mountains. The National Botanic Garden of Wales, 11 miles, with its great glasshouse dome at its centre, is a year round attraction, and within the Brecon Beacons National Park there are masses of paths and trails for walkers, runners, cyclists, mountain bikers, golfers, horse riders and wildlife watchers. Adrenaline sports such as paragliding, canoeing, rafting and abseiling can also be organised within the national park. Fishing is available in the nearby Towy Valley. Beach 30 miles.
