Y Bwthyn has been lovingly updated and modernised, maintaining much of the original features and is the perfect holiday cottage for couples looking for a seaside break.

Upon arrival, you are presented with an open plan kitchen and living room area providing a warm and cosy feel. The modern kitchen is well equipped with all the essentials, including a breakfast bar. Llanrhystud lies on the Ceredigion Coast Path, part of the Wales Coast Path, which is 14 miles starting from Morfa Farm caravan park in Llanrhystud to New Quay, passing spectacular sea views along the way and centuries of history, heritage, and culture, for any walkers this is a must do; perhaps discover Aberaeron for the day, only seven miles away.
Whether you enjoy a stroll around a Georgian country estate, chilling out on the beach or a hearty harbour meal after a train ride, just 9 miles north is Aberystwyth. Aberystwyth’s town high street benefits from many shops, mainly independent boutique shops with some high street names mixed in, whilst the nearby retail outlets offer larger named and designer brands. The cottage is nestled just over the Ceredigion border outside the hamlet of Cwmsychpant, 10 minutes from the town of Llanybydder and 25 minutes from the coastal resort of New Quay with its truly stunning beaches and harbour. New Quay is ideal for days out and you can even enjoy fish and chips on the harbour walls whilst admiring the turquoise blue waters. Here you can take one of the many boat trips to spot the resident bottle nose dolphins. For keen walkers there is a host of scenic walks from your doorstep which are waiting to be discovered.

The market town of Newcastle Emlyn is 12 miles away and is well worth a visit with its plethora of eateries, galleries and gift shops. It is set alongside the meandering River Teifi famous for its coracle boats fishing for salmon and brown trout. You enter Robin’s Nest on the ground floor, with the bedroom and en-suite on this level. The bedroom has a king size bed and en-suite with shower over the bath. Upstairs is your open plan living, small dining area and modest kitchen, everything you need for a comfortable stay. Just 6 miles from Aberystwyth, this popular university town offers some contemporary options for evenings out, perhaps try the popular SY23 restaurant for a unique dining experience of their unbelievable tasting menu, explore the many museums, archives and galleries revealing a depth of heritage to be discovered. To see where the earliest inhabitants of Aberystwyth lived, visit Pendinas hillfort, just to the south of today’s harbour. It overlooks the town and most of Cardigan Bay. There are many interesting and beautiful places to visit including the colourful Georgian harbour town of Aberaeron, just 15 minutes away by car, and the university town of Aberystwyth, with its long promenade and pier, cliff railway, camera obscura and Vale of Rheidol steam railway to Devil’s Bridge. Walkers, cyclists, wildlife enthusiasts, or those who prefer more extreme sports are well catered for, and you can literally lose yourself in the wild undisturbed landscape of hills, mountains, and forests. There are 60 miles of coastal path, and even walking a small section of it is a fantastic way of seeing this beautiful part of west Wales. Beach 11 miles.

This is truly a perfect place for those wanting to explore the surrounding countryside, whether it be ion foot, by bike or with your dog. Take a stroll to Blaen Y Cwm Nature Reserve and head down to Monknash beach and watch the waves crashing on the shoreline. Enjoy cliff top walks along the Glamorgan Heritage Coast with stunning views across the Bristol Channel to Somerset and North Devon. Beautiful Ogmore-by-Sea is 5 miles away with its huge beach and fabulous sand dunes. The lovely beach at Southerndown is close by too. For the more adventurous, the go-karting centre is just 3 miles from the property, Margam Park with Go Ape is 12 miles away and there are some beautiful walks to be had at Margam Park. The property is only 30 minutes from Cardiff and Swansea and the Gower Peninsula is not too far away. Pub 8-minute walk from the property. Nash point lighthouse is only 10 minutes away overlooking sandbanks, and the national trust Dyffryn gardens is only 25 minuites away. Or take a 10 minute drive to llantwit major, where you can catch the train to Cardiff, Barry or Penarth for a day out.

These 3 beautiful and spacious barn conversions are set on a working sheep and beef farm, and each property has its own private hot tub. The farm itself has 140 acres, and the farmland links up to the Ystwyth Cycle Trail which is over 16 miles long. The interiors of the properties have vaulted ceilings, modern lighting, and furnished with leather sofas and wood-burning stoves, each with a hot tub available. Tregaron is also famous for its trotting races, which are actually held here at Dolyrychain Farm on the Sunday following the May bank holiday and also over the August bank holiday weekend each year. The event is the largest of its kind and attracts over 10,000 visitors. This is a haven for walkers and cyclists with the Cambrian Mountains at the foot of the farm and the panoramic Pumlumon Mountains to the north. Visit the university town of Aberystwyth, home of the National Library of Wales, take a walk on the promenade or even catch the electric cliff railway on Construction Hill. For a magical day out take the narrow gauge railway from Aberystwyth to the heart of the Pumlumon Mountains where the destination will be the world famous Devils Bridge and Rheidol Falls. The name, the Plucking Barn originates from the days of old when the barn was used to prepare ducks and chickens. Today there is no trace of that, but instead you will be greeted by friendly owners who have created a modern and very comfortable holiday cottage, in an ‘upside down’ style to take advantage of the gorgeous views. On the ground floor there are two bedrooms, one a double and the other a twin. They both have access to the lovely shower room with walk-in shower. There is thermostatically controlled radiators upstairs, and underfloor heating on the ground floor. Upstairs, the living area is open plan with a spacious modern and well equipped kitchen and dining space which leads to the living area where there are two comfy leather sofas and chair. You can sit here and take full advantage of the amazing countryside views or step out through the patio doors onto the balcony and enjoy sitting at the table with a coffee or a glass of something chilled and breathe in the fresh Welsh air. There’s also an outside seating area right by the barn with barbecue, table and chairs and a great enclosed paddock for exercising dogs right opposite.
The location of the Plucking Barn makes it an ideal base for day trips around west and mid Wales. There are over 60 miles of glorious coastline in Cardigan Bay. There are lots of beaches and coves and many are dog friendly all year round if you are bringing your pet on holiday with you. The pretty coastal resort of New Quay and the colourful Georgian harbour town Aberaeron can be easily reached within 30 minutes’ drive. You’re very likely to see dolphins in the bay and there are boat trips available to watch them and the other wildlife. The Victorian seaside and university town of Aberystwyth is also within easy reach and here you’ll find a traditional pier, promenade and the old electric cliff railway to the summit of Constitution Hill where you can enjoy a really panoramic view of the bay.
