Blackhill Gate Cottage is set in an unrivalled rural location offering superb panoramic countryside views across the stunning scenery of the Peak District National Park. Crossing the Derbyshire and Cheshire boundary on the outskirts of the pretty Peak District village of Kettleshulme, this holiday cottage is located next to a field which at times is home to nursery lambs, and offers fine walking direct from the door through the valley of Todd Brook, Bowstones, Taxal Edge and into the Goyt Valley. Kettleshulme itself is home to a 15th century country pub which offers a warm welcome and freshly cooked meals. The town of Whaley Bridge with its mix of shops, bars and restaurants plus train station with direct service to both Manchester and Buxton is a 5 minute drive. The National Trust Lyme Park with its glorious house and gardens can be reached on foot or by car and the magnificent historic houses of Chatsworth, Haddon Hall and the popular market town of Bakewell, 45 minute’s drive. A variety of Peak District villages are all easily reachable within half an hour’s drive including Edale, Tideswell and Castleton, and great days out for the family within an hour’s drive include the local Chestnut Centre Wildlife Park, Carsington Water, Matlock Bath with is cable car and the UK’s premier theme park Alton Towers. Shop 2½ miles, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

This detached barn, situated in the five-acre grounds of the owners’ home, is a short drive from the National Trust Tatton Park. As you enter the open plan living space filled with oak beams, you are greeted by a warm welcoming living area. If it’s a lovely sunny day, why not open the patio doors to the large, manicured gardens and sit and watch the world go by? The modern kitchen area is perfect for cooking up a storm and entertaining friends or family. Upstairs there are three bedrooms (one king sized, two double beds), beams and vaulted ceilings and a separate bathroom. Outside is a beautiful lawned garden made for al fresco dining or cooking a fabulous barbecue. Alternatively, there are many beautiful country walks to try, one of which begins at the property.
Wee Bridge Farm Cottage is situated in the village of Mobberley which has six wonderful country pubs, a farm shop, a bakery, a selection of other shops and its own train station. It is a great base to explore the area. The quaint town of Knutsford is only a five-minute drive away and has antique and specialist shops as well as many restaurants. Wilmslow, Alderley Edge, Altrincham, and Hale are also close by.
Or head to iconic Manchester about 30 minutes away which has many attractions including Legoland discovery centre, various museums and art galleries and, of course, Old Trafford (football and cricket) and the Etihad Stadium. Liverpool is less than an hour’s drive away and is the birthplace of the Beatles.

Offering a rural experience, Drumble Lodge can be found at the end of a winding country lane on a working farm amidst beautiful Cheshire countryside. The location is peaceful and serene, where you can enjoy the sounds of bird song throughout the day and the distinctive calls of owls at night. The farm on which the lodge stands has been registered as a wedding venue and will accommodate smaller weddings. Pet sheep and goats that meander around the paddock next to the lodge, and in the distance, you’ll see cows grazing in the meadow. Despite the rural setting, the property has Sky Link Wi-Fi with 200 megabites per second.
A selection of outdoor seating areas are available where you can relax, unwind and once the sun sets gaze at the stars beyond through the telescope provided. A traditional dog friendly, food serving pub is a mere 10-minute walk, and ample footpaths radiate from the area just waiting to be explored. The pretty market town of Congleton can be reached in around 10 minutes and is home to ample amenities including a selection of supermarkets and shops together with many bars and restaurants.
The National Trusts Biddulph Grange Country Park and Little Moreton Hall are also accessible in around a 10-minute drive. You can take a waterside stroll along the River Dane, cycle the tranquil traffic free Biddulph Valley Way, or walk to the famous atmospheric ruins of Mow Cop Castle and lesser-known Old Man of Mow.
The Peak District National Park is around a 30-minute drive and the city of Manchester can be reached in under an hour on a direct train from Congleton station. For those with children Delamere Forest, Manley Mere and Britain’s premier theme park Alton Towers can be reached in around 45 minutes and then finally the city of Chester, Blue Planet Aquarium and Chester Zoo in around an hour.

Neighbouring New Mills can be reached in around a 10-minute drive and is home to the Torrs Riverside Park and Millennium Walkway, which is a much-admired bridge set deep into the gorge. Buxton is just 20 minutes and most famous for its therapeutic spring water, Pavilion Gardens and of course Opera House. Also, just 20 minutes is the beautiful honeypot village of Castleton, wonderful Edale which is the start/end of the Pennine Way and Hayfield from where you can hike to the highest point in the Peak District, Kinder Scout. Accessed down a long winding track in a beautiful rural environment is the wonderful Hollowcowhey Farm Cottage. Set on the owners working farm this former barn has been beautifully converted to provide warm, comfortable, and quirky accommodation just perfect for couples.
Located in the magnificent Peak District National Park means the surrounding area is home to incredible countryside with excellent walking, mountain biking, cycling and rock climbing all easily accessible. In Whaley Bridge you can stroll along the tow path to the Buxworth Basin or take a narrow boat trip. The famous spa town of Buxton boasts the opera house, Pavilion Gardens, and the 5* Buxton Spa for anyone looking for some pampering. Bollington is a thriving town with plenty of busy pubs, eateries, bars, and cafés, and both Whaley Bridge and Macclesfield have train stations offering a direct service to Manchester in under an hour. You can travel through Winnets Pass to the charming village of Castleton in just over half an hour or visit Chatsworth House and Bakewell in around 45 minutes. Matlock Bath and Alton Towers also make great days out - the choice really is yours to do as much or as little as you like.

History buffs will relish in a trip to the nearby town of Macclesfield where they can discover the rich and captivating history of Armoury Towers and Fence Alms Houses or the Priests House that rests in the quintessential village of Prestbury.

Langley is a quiet village close to Macclesfield, with picturesque rows of mill workers’ cottages surrounded by spectacular countryside. Several small reservoirs, attractive woodland and ancient packhorse routes characterise the area, with good walks in Macclesfield Forest, up the peak of Shutlingsloe and across to Tegg’s Nose Country Park. This is also a convenient place to stay to explore the attractions of the northwest - Jodrell Bank Observatory, the vibrant cities of Manchester, Chester and Liverpool. Historic houses such as Gawsworth Hall with its summer open air theatre, Little Moreton Hall and Styal Mill.

Spruce Shepherd’s Hut can be found nestled within the enchanting surroundings of a Christmas tree farm in the Cheshire market town of Wilmslow. It’s fully licensed so expect bacon rolls and home made cake together with the odd cocktail!

You can take a stroll through the picturesque Carrs Park in the heart of the town centre, or by the River Bollin towards Styal Village and National Trust Quarry Bank Mill.
Lindow Common, a Site of Special Scientific Interest and Lindow Moss, are both adjacent to the farm for walks amongst the peatland and the cities of Manchester, Chester and Liverpool together with the Peak District National Park are all easily accessible.
