The property is in an excellent location with the walks of Snowdon on the doorstep, including Llanberis Path, the easiest and longest route, The Miners’ Track, Snowdon Ranger Path and the Watkin Path. Capel Curig nestles in the foothills of Moel Siabod, Y Glyderau and Y Carneddau, endorsing the majestic view of the Snowdon horseshoe. Afon Llygwy flows through the village, making its way down to Betws-y-Coed, a nearby village where forests, lakes and mountains combine to produce a stunning landscape. Coffee shops, craft houses, a miniature steam railway and a number of good eating houses are located in the centre of Betws-y-Coed village.
Day trips to consider would be Bodnant Gardens, set in one of North Wales’ most famous estates, or Conway, with its castle walls, marina, selection of shops and delicatessens, not forgetting the smallest house in the UK according to the Guinness Book of Records. Llangollen in the opposite direction is a pleasant Welsh town with its horse-drawn canal boats, light railway, Dr Who experience, and world famous festivals such as the annual Eisteddfod. Beddgelert is a short drive and is good for walkers or children wishing to visit Gelert’s Grave. Most areas of the Lleyn Peninsula are within an hour’s drive, where good beaches and watersports can be found. Portmeirion village is also great for a day trip with its exotic plants and Italianate buildings. Fishing and golf are available within 5 miles. Dylasau Cottage is detached, set down a quiet, woodland, country lane, at the top of a gently terraced garden. About a mile away are many fine waterfalls, including the Conwy Falls and the Machno Falls (near the mountain-ringed village of Penmachno). Nearby are the 14 peaks of Snowdon, golf, good horse riding and fishing to enjoy whilst there is a delightful farm trail on the owner’s farm close by. Reputedly the best rock climbing in the world is available near to Capel Curig, in addition to canoeing and skiing. The nearby village of Betws-y-Coed, the gateway to Snowdonia, has much to offer, including the fabulous, family-friendly treetop nets at Zip World Fforest. A short drive takes you to Blaenau Ffestiniog which offers adrenaline junkies the options of trying Europe’s longest zip lines, or Bounce Below, where you can bounce on trampoline nets in an old slate cavern. With Zip World and Bounce Bellow at Llechwedd Quarry 20 minutes’ drive an epic experience for any age. For the more intrepid adventurer Pen Y Pass route for mount Snowdon is only 10 miles away, with the more popular Llanberis route 16 miles distance.
Further down the coast less than 30 minutes’ drive, is the walled harbour town of Conwy, home to the smallest house in Britain and the imposing UNESCO world heritage site of Conwy Castle.
