The Little House is just yards from the ‘Mineral Tramways Trail’, one of Cornwall’s many cycle networks that links the north coast at Portreath to the South coast near Falmouth. It is popular with walkers, cyclists, horse riders and sightseers as it passes through a rich mining heritage area, dotted with old mine archaeology. A cycle hire centre, shop and café are approximately 1 mile from the front door, right on the trail itself. The world famous Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Lizard Peninsula, which is the location of Lizard Point and the most southerly point of the country, are all easily accessible from the property. The ancient seafaring town of Falmouth is approx 6 miles away, and provides an excellent centre for many activities such as sailing, windsurfing, pleasure trips and diving. Other amenities available locally are fine sandy beaches, shopping, cinema, restaurants and Pendennis Castle, perched high on Pendennis Point. Falmouth is also home to the National Maritime Museum, two yacht marinas and numerous National Trust gardens. Close to the old fishing villages of Kingsand and Cawsand on the Rame peninsula, and the unspoilt beaches of Whitsand Bay. Kingsand and Cawsand go hand in hand and are located in the south east corner of Cornwall. Each are pretty coastal villages and both have lovely sandy beaches. Whitsand Bay also has a sandy beach and this one is over three miles long, ideal for a romantic stroll listening to the waves.
This area of Devon and Cornwall is ideal for water sports such as paddleboarding and kayaking and keen golfers can practice their swing at Portwrinkle golf course.
The Torpoint ferry is 15 minutes’ drive, where you can sail cross the River Tamar into the city of Plymouth and visit ’Drake’s Hoe’ or the Barbican where the Pilgrim Fathers set sail for America. Liskeard, EnglandAcorns is a comfortable two storey one bedroom cottage, occupying one end of the Owners’ superb, converted granite barn which used to be an old threshing barn. Located in a small hamlet of about ten houses and converted barns, this peaceful rural location is a wonderful place to escape to at any time of year. A great dog friendly cottage too! The barn itself is set out in reverse style with open plan living space on the first floor and access into the enclosed garden. On the ground floor there is a double bedroom with external access, a large bathroom with original Victorian roll-top bath, and a separate shower.
Acorns is in three designated areas - Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Area of Great Scientific Value and Area of Great Historic Value. Something for everyone! The oak tree shown in the photos is the "famous" Darley Oak which is over 1000 years old. This is a great location to visit if you are a keen walker. There are endless opportunities to explore the local area.
The wilds of Bodmin Moor with endless walking opportunities are nearby and the spectacular scenery of both Cornish coasts and Dartmoor are all within easy reach. The area abounds with country pubs - most of which have roaring fires in the winter months, and the towns of Launceston and Liskeard are just short distance away.
