Over the past year (2022), the house has been renovated to the highest standards by one of the country’s leading interior designers and offers plenty of living space all benefitting from exceptional sea views and floor to ceiling sliding doors leading to a large decking area. The large circular fireplace makes for cosy evenings during the Autumn and Winter months. The brand-new handmade kitchen is well supplied with all creature comforts from a juicer to a selection of coffee machines, including a Nespresso. A door leads into a separate TV room with a big corner sofa, both with fabulous sea views and door to the terrace. Three ground floor bedrooms, ome with chandelier, two with those stunning views. A beautiful glass and oak staircase leads from the entrance hall up to the first floor where you will find three more bedrooms; a double bedroom with en-suite shower room; a large twin bedroom with large en-suite shower room, and one with a TV and sofa bed which enjoys the best views of all.
The beach is just a 5-minute walk away from the garden gate. Off the drive, there is a lawned area and to the side of the house a heated outdoor shower for when you return from the beach. The equipment store has a range of children’s wetsuits and storage for boards. Once cleaned off, you can luxuriate in the state-of-the-art Aspen and Spruce spa with a sauna, experiential shower plus cold water bucket for the brave. Situated mid-way between Padstow and Newquay, Mawgan Porth offers you a beautiful west facing beach, stunning scenery, wondrous walks, superb surfing, an amazing variety of restaurants to suit everyone’s taste and pocket, including a cosy pub, seafood restaurant, cafés, and takeaways all within walking distance of Blue Seas. - Lostwithiel, EnglandThese three well-presented cottages, Cloisters Cottage (ref UKC1870), Stable Cottage (ref UKC1871) and Stable End (ref UKC1872) have been converted from parts of a historic building on the outskirts of the ancient Stannary town of Lostwithiel, providing charming holiday accommodation with a little local history attached. Peregrine Hall has 9 acres of woodland, gardens, terraces and walks for you to enjoy or simply relax with a cream tea on the terrace. The house stands on a hill overlooking the town of Lostwithiel, and was a gun site during the English Civil War. It was first known as St Faith’s House of Mercy, a refuge for ‘wayward girls’, who were rescued from Bodmin jail and put to work running a laundry which served Lanhydrock Estate and the local community.
The town of Lostwithiel is well known for being the centre of Cornwall’s antiques industry and is well served with great restaurants, local award winning pubs, craft shops and cafés on the River Fowey. This beautiful river is spanned by an ancient bridge with its own little beach and picnic area, and is within walking distance from Peregrine Hall. The riverside walks along its banks are a must, and if you are lucky you may see kingfishers, otters and other wildlife. Restormel Castle and The Duchy of Cornwall Nurseries are also close by and a must for all that visit the area. Lostwithiel provides the perfect base for touring the Duchy of Cornwall from its north coast with Padstow, Port Isaac and Polzeath, to the south coast with Fowey, Polperro and Mevagissey. All are lovely fishing villages and coastal towns, with many attractions for everyone, from sea fishing and kayaking to surfing and sailing.
The Lanhydrock Estate is a gothic stately home, gardens and grounds which is closely linked with Lostwithiel and is a stunning example of a National Trust house. There are also woodland walks, off road cycle trails and bike hire along with a museum and tea rooms. For the energetic, try golf at Lanhydrock, cycling along the nearby Camel Trail, or a walk to Respryn Bridge can all be enjoyed. The larger cottage, Goose Cottage is a charming barn conversion and boast lovely views of the surrounding rural landscape. With spacious open plan living space, it is ideal for enjoyable gatherings of families or friends. Barn Cottage offers a first floor living room, complete with doors which open onto a small decked balcony where guests can admire the magnificent views across rolling fields and out to the sea. Both properties enjoy shared access to the range of facilities found on-site, including a tennis court and a children’s outdoor play area with slides, swings and a climbing wall. St Mawes, EnglandCobblestones has some of the best panoramic views in St Mawes, being situated in the exclusive western end of the village close to the castle built by Henry VIII in the 1540s. Cobblestones is reverse level with the main entrance on the same level as the main bedrooms and living area; south facing, with a full width balcony, heated swimming pool (available June to end of August) with permanent safety cover, large garden, plenty of parking and all within walking distance of the village. This is a fantastic property for larger groups and families. the best feature of Cobblestones is, without a doubt, the incredible views. There are a wealth of things to do on the farm to keep youngsters entertained including plethora of farm animals, a communal swimming pool which is heated and will be open for use between May half term and mid September, a tennis court, games room and play area.
This comfortable, dog friendly, holiday home is a 15-minute walk from Widemouth Bay which is a fantastic beach and has a vast expanse of golden sands at low tide and many rock pools to explore. The surf is often outstanding, the sun hits the beach for most of the day and the sunsets over the sea are simply magical. 3 miles to the north is Bude, a vibrant, bustling little tourist town with a wealth of restaurants and amenities.
For walkers and cyclists the area is full of superb routes and Bude lies at the centre of the most dramatic stretch of the south west coastal footpath. There are numerous local villages and landmarks to explore and much of the area is a nature lovers paradise. Bude is only a couple of minutes down the road and has the full range of facilities that one would expect of a small town including a wide range of shops, pubs and restaurant.
Bude is possibly more diverse than any other holiday destination in Cornwall. Most major villages, towns and attractions are within an hour’s drive; and because Bude sits on the county border, visitors can explore the delights of both Devon and Cornwall at their leisure. St Just, EnglandStone Farm Cottage is a beautifully presented granite cottage with rolling rural views derelict tin mine engine houses dot the landscape and there are magnificent sea views from the top of the garden. A small stream trickles through the garden and there is access to a shared (with the owners) covered swimming pool which is heated and available from the beginning of June until the beginning of September.
Inside is a stylishly decorated, open plan living space with doors leading to the garden, original beams, and a cosy wood burner to warm you up after a day exploring the dramatic coastal scenery or checking out the surf. The well-equipped kitchen area is a joy to cook in, why not take you holiday feast outside and dine al fresco or fire up the BBQ on a beautiful summer evening. To one side of the living space is the master bedroom with kingsize bed and en-suite wet room. At the other end is the utility room and family bathroom, leading through to the twin bedroom with plenty of built in storage.
Bojewyan is a small settlement to the east of Pendeen which is famous for its industrial heritage. Pendeen village has a general store and Post office and there are four local pubs serving food. Three of these, as well as a takeaway fish and chip shop and a Spanish tapas restaurant, are all within a 2-minute drive or a 10-minute walk from the property.
The St Just area has a rich mining history and has now been designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and is also in one of the twelve Cornish Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Pendeen Lighthouse and the secluded Portheras Cove and beach are a mile to the north. The coastline in this part of Cornwall is simply outstanding and the road from St Ives to St Just is possibly the most scenic drive in the county.
