    Bodmin Moor is an ancient and beautifully brooding place, with an atmosphere all its own, jaw-dropping views and great tors and stone structures. ‘Here to Jamaica Inn’, made famous by Daphne de Maurier has a past where smugglers would stay as they carried their contraband from the shipwrecks at sea. Less than ten miles will bring you to some fine beaches, including Port Gaverne, Daymer and Polzeath, fabulous for families and those wanting to experience the super-surf alike. Visit iconic Padstow, with galleries, buzzing harbour and award winning-restaurants, or Port Isaac, the fictitious home of Doc Martin. Port Isaac, the fictitious home of the TV series ‘Doc Martin’ is delightful and has some fabulous restaurants, whilst Tintagel has links to the legend of King Arthur.     Within 8 miles is Tintagel which is inextricably linked to the legend of King Arthur and is steeped in history. A visit to the English Heritage site of Tintagel Castle, where legend and historical fact alike meet stunning scenery, is a definite must while in the area and for Arthurian enthusiasts it is unmissable! There are many beaches in the area for surfers and sunseekers alike including Trebarwith and Bossiney Cove. Much of the North Cornish coastline is owned by the National Trust and is a haven for wildlife, providing fabulous walking opportunities with many well-trodden routes. There are many pretty coves and inlets to discover along this coastline including Crackington Haven, Boscastle, Morwenstow.

    A bit further to the south is the fishing port of Padstow and quaint Port Isaac of Doc Martin fame and 16 miles to the north is the fabulous coastal town of Bude. If you fancy crossing over the ‘border’ into Devon and enjoy open spaces then Dartmoor National Park is 27 miles or so to the east – here you can enjoy a day of walking and discover the vast moorland and roam the craggy landscape, defined by forests, rivers, wetlands and rock formations or tors. Or search the Neolithic tombs, Bronze Age stone circles and abandoned medieval farmhouses in this amazing landscape!
