Tintagel is 4 miles away with King Arthur’s castle clinging to the cliff top. The quaint fishing villages of Padstow, famous for TV chef Rick Stein’s restaurant, Boscastle and Port Isaac are a must. Port Isaac is also famously known as Portwenn, thanks to the long running TV series ‘Doc Martin’.
The nearby South-West Coastal Path passes through some of the most dramatic scenery of its route.
Away from the coast, explore the beauty of Bodmin Moor, a vast moorland peppered with fascinating granite Tors. The Bodmin and Wenford Steam Railway chugs along for 6 miles and back and will delight children of all ages including steam train enthusiasts.

There is also a separate bunk room that sleeps four people, and two comfortable double bed leather Chesterfield settees are situated in the 28ft conservatory, together with an oak dining table that accommodates up to 14 people and an 18Kw log burner, the conservatory also comes with a Cambridge hifi system. If you need to do some washing, then there is a washing machine and tumble dryer located in the main bathroom. The kitchen area has everything you’ll need for your stay including a dishwasher and a coffee machine. Outside you can enjoy the lovely surrounding countryside views from the lawned garden and patios including a lovely decking area. And parking is on the driveway accommodating up to 5 cars.
Hindscarth is surrounded on 3 sides by areas of outstanding natural beauty, the National Cycle trail runs past the property, Bodmin Moor is 1/2 a mile away. Jamaica Inn is within easy reach as is Boscastle, Padstow and Port Isaac. Guests can also enjoy stunning cliff walks and travelling to the South Coast and the Eden project is also recommended. There are also several sandy beaches within easy reach.
Within 8 miles is Tintagel which is inextricably linked to the legend of King Arthur and is steeped in history. A visit to the English Heritage site of Tintagel Castle, where legend and historical fact alike meet stunning scenery, is a definite must while in the area and for Arthurian enthusiasts it is unmissable! There are many beaches in the area for surfers and sunseekers alike including Trebarwith and Bossiney Cove. Much of the North Cornish coastline is owned by the National Trust and is a haven for wildlife, providing fabulous walking opportunities with many well-trodden routes. There are many pretty coves and inlets to discover along this coastline including Crackington Haven, Boscastle, Morwenstow.
A bit further to the south is the fishing port of Padstow and quaint Port Isaac of Doc Martin fame and 16 miles to the north is the fabulous coastal town of Bude. If you fancy crossing over the ‘border’ into Devon and enjoy open spaces then Dartmoor National Park is 27 miles or so to the east – here you can enjoy a day of walking and discover the vast moorland and roam the craggy landscape, defined by forests, rivers, wetlands and rock formations or tors. Or search the Neolithic tombs, Bronze Age stone circles and abandoned medieval farmhouses in this amazing landscape!

Whitsand Bay also has a sandy beach and this one is over three miles long, ideal for a romantic stroll listening to the waves.
This area of Devon and Cornwall is ideal for water sports such as paddleboarding and kayaking and keen golfers can practice their swing at Portwrinkle golf course.
The Torpoint ferry is 15 minutes’ drive, where you can sail cross the River Tamar into the city of Plymouth and visit ’Drake’s Hoe’ or the Barbican where the Pilgrim Fathers set sail for America. Although nearer the tranquil south coast, the dramatic north coast, with its excellent surfing beaches, is easily reached. The Little House is just yards from the ‘Mineral Tramways Trail’, one of Cornwall’s many cycle networks that links the north coast at Portreath to the South coast near Falmouth. It is popular with walkers, cyclists, horse riders and sightseers as it passes through a rich mining heritage area, dotted with old mine archaeology. A cycle hire centre, shop and café are approximately 1 mile from the front door, right on the trail itself. The world famous Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Lizard Peninsula, which is the location of Lizard Point and the most southerly point of the country, are all easily accessible from the property. The ancient seafaring town of Falmouth is approx 6 miles away, and provides an excellent centre for many activities such as sailing, windsurfing, pleasure trips and diving. Other amenities available locally are fine sandy beaches, shopping, cinema, restaurants and Pendennis Castle, perched high on Pendennis Point. Falmouth is also home to the National Maritime Museum, two yacht marinas and numerous National Trust gardens. A ferry to the Roseland Peninsula and a sightseeing trip along the River Fal to Truro are also available from one of the town quays.
