Heading to any popular destination in Cornwall and you'll have the choice of the best dog friendly hotels that the area has to offer. Cornwall has some superb dog walking areas, including the South West Coast path which takes you past Land's End, the Lizard peninsula and some beautiful beaches.
- Crackington Haven, EnglandMadison is a lovely Swedish designed, detached holiday property situated not far from the beach and benefiting from being just under 8 miles from the popular seaside town of Bude. The property can comfortably accommodate eight guests with all rooms on one level.
There are three bedrooms; one with a super kingsize bed, Smart TV and a lovely en-suite with a multi spray unit, double walk-in shower plus a bath and the other two both being twins (one with a handy sink in it). There’s also a family shower room, again with double walk-in shower. The living space consists of a comfortable living area with Smart TV, a separate dining room with a double sofa bed and a conservatory with seating, a telescope and access to the rear garden and patio. The kitchen/breakfast room offers everything you’ll need for your stay and the utility room has a dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, freezer and coffee machine.
Outside is a large rear garden consisting of trees, lawn and a patio with a big dining table, perfect for outdoor family gatherings. Children will love running in and out of the trees and bushes and hidden away is a quiet sun lounging area. To the front of the property is an additional garden area and parking for up to five cars on the driveway. Then there’s the games rooms which can be accessed via the side of the building, where you will find table tennis, air hockey, darts, table football, a games console, a TV and even a toilet.
If it’s the beach life you’re looking for then you’ll be spoiled for choice with the nearest beach being just 3 miles away. Much of the coastline in this area is owned by the National Trust and is a haven for wildlife, providing fabulous walking opportunities. There are many pretty coves and inlets to discover within a short drive including Crackington Haven, Boscastle, Morwenstow and stunning Tintagel, inextricably linked to the legend of King Arthur. Further afield the fishing port of Padstow is a popular tourist destination. Bude is a fabulous coastal town and has something for everyone including great beaches, rockpools and cafés to watch it all from. The rolling waves are great for surfing all year round and the footpaths by the restored canal or on the Southwest Coast Path offer you a superb opportunity to explore the outstanding countryside. Bude also has a superb golf course, indoor swimming pool, bowling alley/indoor play area and a heritage centre at Bude Castle.
Madison is also perfectly located for you to discover the many natural delights that North Devon has to offer such as Exmoor National Park with its magical night skies in Europe’s first ‘Dark Sky Reserve’, the many rugged coastal towns and quaint villages such as Hartland, Lynton & Lynmouth, Ilfracombe and the world-famous Clovelly Village. Tizzy Barn (CWC488161) is a beautiful barn conversion that boasts superb open plan living downstairs yet maintains a traditional feel. There is a cosy wood burner and comfy sofas which will make it a treat for a winter break. At the other end of the building is a set of French windows that open out into the enclosed patio garden. Upstairs the master bedroom has bi-fold doors to a Juliet balcony and an en-suite shower room. Ash Tree Cottage (CWC563734) is a pretty, stone cottage, converted from stables in 2003, there is an open plan living space, a warm and cosy bedroom, and a sun trap of a patio for al fresco dining or a glass of something cold while you plan your days ahead. Trebethis (CWC566710) has tiled floors, a beautiful granite fireplace made from three gateposts, exposed beams, including a massive ash beam that separates the kitchen from dining area, all combine to exude character in this superb barn conversion. Honeysuckle Cottage (CWC566741) has been converted from a 400 year old cart house. Inside you will find a bright and spacious open plan living area that welcomes you in, while both bedrooms are tastefully decorated and enhance the ambience. The property has been updated with a larger main bedroom with kingsize bed and a new bathroom with walk in shower. There are French doors that lead out onto a secluded patio garden, a perfect spot to soak up the Cornish air and sunshine, read a book or enjoy your favourite tipple. Mowhay Cottage (CWC566799) is beautifully presented, with vaulted ceilings, a heated tiled floor, a cosy wood burner, exposed beams and many other character features. The gardens at each property, although enclosed, will detain all but the most experienced dog escapologists.
Located a few miles inland from Crackington Haven which has pebbles and rock pools at the top of the beach but as the tide goes out a vast expanse of golden sand is exposed with some of the best surf on the north coast.
To the north is Widemouth bay and the bustling tourist town of Bude while to the west is the stunning and infamous village Boscastle, nestled in a steep valley where the river has cut a course through the steep cliffs to the sea. There are secluded coves, majestic views, wildlife and even a blowhole. Tintagel is 8 miles away and boasts a magnificent new footbridge to reach the castle on a single level and has made the journey to the headland significantly easier. Beach 5 miles.

The home is split level, with the entrance and large kitchen/dining room on the upper ground floor and three of the peacefully decorated bedrooms all with plenty of storage, along with a family bathroom on the lower ground floor. A short staircase leads to the living room and master bedroom on the first floor with those cracking views and a Juliet balcony behind some French doors to maximise the view. A cosy wood burner in the living room will warm up those chillier days. The south facing patio garden is a sun trap during the summer and is adjoined by the village green a large field where children can run off some steam!
Rosecare is a quiet hamlet just up the valley from Crackington Haven in the parish of St Gennys, it is a beautiful walk down through the wooded valley to the beach. There you will find a pub and two cafes are situated next to the car park at the top of the beach and will cater for most tastes. Crackington beach is covered by pebbles at high tide with plenty of rock pools to be explored but as the water recedes it exposes an expanse of golden sand which is one of the best surf spots in the county and is patrolled by lifeguards during the season. Crackington is equidistant between Widemouth Bay and Bude with a wide variety of restaurants and bars to the north and Boscastle to the south, there are majestic cliffs (Cornwall’s highest) just along the coast and some fantastically intriguing rock formations that are well worth a visit!
