Located at the end of a private lane on the edge of Cornwall’s highest village of St Breward, Sandy Barn Cottages comprises three beautifully converted holiday barns (refs B5718, B5719 and W44032) and the owner’s own home, forming a secluded courtyard of 200-year-old granite buildings. The dog-friendly cottages are all tastefully furnished with many character features including slate floors and exposed beams. Cross Cottage (ref B5718) is detached with views over neighbouring fields.
Ideally situated on the edge of Bodmin Moor for exploring the landscape of tors and moorland. Enjoy walking, cycling, riding, fishing or simply relaxing. The nearest beach of Trebarwith Strand is 20 minutes’ away, but may favourites such as Whitehaven, Daymer Bay, Polzeath and Trevone are within 30-40 minutes’. With the beaches of the North Cornwall coast within 12 miles, visitors can enjoy the best of coast and countryside, alternating their days between tranquil landscapes, coastal walks and seaside fun at the beaches.
Places of interest such as Wadebridge, Padstow, Port Isaac, Boscastle and Tintagel. The National Trust property at Lanhydrock, the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan are also within easy reach for a day out.
Sandy Barn Cottages are tucked away, surrounded by fields, but still in the heart of the village. Local amenities comprise of a village shop and pub serving food, both within easy walking distance, ¼ mile.

The front of the property has a small, fenced garden with a bench and view towards the ocean, whilst at the rear of the property is a cosy patio garden area. Within easy reach are many little coves, the ruins of Tintagel Castle and Celtic monastery remains – with two little beaches far below connected by Merlin’s Cave. Lovely walks in nearby wooded St Nectan’s Glen, by a tumbling stream and waterfall, and in Rocky Valley, where a rock bears intricate Bronze Age carvings. Camelford 5 miles. The property is a self contained renovated wing of a Grade II listed farmhouse. On a working sheep farm the owner can provide stabling if you wish to bring your own horse and enjoy the local riding country. The cottage retains much of its original charm with slate floors and woodburning stove, the sheltered patio is a sun trap and from the gardens there are views over the valley to St. Austell. Only a mile from the nearest beach and 5 miles from both the Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan. Only 1 mile from St Austell or Charlestown where you can shop, view art and craft shops and discover pubs and restaurants. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

Nestled deep in the Cornish countryside situated on a smallholding, yet only 15 minutes from both spectacular coasts, this holiday property provides that much needed get away. Although single-storey, it has some internal steps and there is one-way privacy glass in the kitchen/dining room. Lanes, bridleways and footpaths provide perfect walking opportunities. The Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and many National Trust gardens and houses are nearby. Charlestown, with its Georgian architecture and tall ships, the seafaring town of Fowey, and Mevagissey with its working harbour, are all easily reached. Fairview (CWC561946) is a reverse level, semi-detached cottage with an entrance on the first floor and a large living/dining room, a cosy wood-burning stove, there is a west-facing conservatory down a couple of steps with sofa and access to a small private garden. A family bedroom on the first floor provides a level living area for those with a mobility issue. On the ground floor are further bedrooms and a family bathroom. Barn Cottage (CWC562587) is also a reverse level, semi-detached cottage with two bedrooms on the ground floor.
This is a real farm experience, fresh free-range eggs are available from the owners, and there are a number of walks across the delightful 150 acres. This is a dog-friendly property however please note that it is a working Beef and Sheep farm, so dogs must be kept under control.
Further along the coast is Sandymouth, a large beach ideal for families due to its lovely sand, rock pools and tea rooms. A short drive north over the border into Devon leads to the quaint village of Hartland which has a magnificent church with an amazing painted ceiling and one of the tallest towers in England. Hartland Quay has a hotel and Wreckers Bar as the coast here is littered with wrecks and is a lovely spot for some lunch. Also well worth a visit is the world-famous fishing village of Clovelly. The cobbled, traffic-free, high street is built into a cleft in a 400’ high cliff and tumbles its way down past whitewashed cottages festooned with flowers to the tiny working port. Beach 2 miles.

Lower Margate backs on to Cardinham Woods and with its own private track into the forest, where you’ll find cycling trails, dog walks and a licensed woodland café… it’s the perfect retreat.

Sea Home is a lovely family house with three of its four bedrooms conveniently located on the ground floor. The fourth, a superb master bedroom with en-suite bedroom is set on the first floor as is the library, a tranquil area in the house if you are looking for a spot of privacy from the rest of your party. There are views from most rooms including bedroom two, bedroom one, the library, the living room with comfortable seating for six, and the dining room which has a large table and seating for six.
This property has a strong Vodafone signal and a comprehensive information pack with useful phone numbers and addresses for the local area. The welcome hamper includes Spanish Cava, biscuits, coffee, chocolate, cheese, grapes and chutney. Inside, you will find a fantastic quality kitchen equipped with NEFF appliances, a treat for any keen cook. French doors open between the living and the dining areas making this the ideal space for entertaining, or simply enjoying a special meal with your family. A stone’s throw away from Sea Home is the mile long sandy beach patrolled daily by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution Coastguard. Access to The Southwest Coastal Path is also less than a minute away providing excellent walking opportunities to the iconic harbour of Porthleven to the east and to Prussia Cove and St Michael’s Mount to the west.
Praa Sands Village is a short walk from Sea Home and has no shortage of local amenities including the StonesReef beachfront complex, a pub and restaurant, cafes and a general hardware and gift store. There is also a 9-hole Golf course, a fuel station and a Co-Op a short distance away.
