The cottage’s location is fantastic for exploring both the quaint and scenic countryside as well as the fantastic beaches on the coast, with the nearest shop being just a short walk away in the hamlet of Tregaswith, and lots of pubs and eateries to choose from in St. Columb Major down the road.
Set off on a surfing expedition to Newquay’s nearby world famous Fistral Beach or Watergate Bay known for enjoying incredible waves all year round, with surf schools here to teach beginners all they need to know!

- Crantock, EnglandThis 15th-century manor house, with its own pretty garden, has tremendous character, a friendly atmosphere and is extremely well furnished. The spacious beamed sitting room is set on the first floor to take full advantage of the wonderful coastal views. Attached to Manor Cottage (GAX) but completely self-contained, it enjoys a picturesque setting on the green, in the peaceful Cornish hamlet of West Pentire – only 300 yards down a cliff path from acres of clean golden sand (see Manor Cottage GAX). Children and adults alike can sample the delights of rock pool fishing, exploring caves or surfing. By hiring a pony, it is possible to ride cross-country to the beaches of Porth Joke and Holywell, without the need to cross any roads.
Set in the heart of National Trust land, the property is surrounded by magnificent walking country, and is an ideal base from which to explore Cornwall’s splendid countryside and unique history as well as its magnificent coastline. The immediate area is renowned for its superb sandy surfing beaches, punctuated by craggy headlands. Perranporth (named after the patron saint of tin miners) is 10 miles to the south, famous for its drifting sands which have twice buried the church. Lifeguards patrol the wide sandy beach in summer, and surf boards and wet suits can be hired by the day. Further along is St Agnes with its superb coastal views, while to the south lies Truro, the unofficial capital of Cornwall, offering good shops and restaurants, a splendid cathedral and The Royal Cornwall Museum with extensive displays of the county.
The historic and family friendly Bowgie Inn is adjacent and offers a wide selection of food as well as local beers and ciders, and sports fans can enjoy Sky coverage. A general store (open in season) can be found nearby, and Crantock village and its shops are only 1 mile away. The lively resort of Newquay, with its cliffs honeycombed by numerous caves, is 5 miles across the estuary to the north. - Camelford, EnglandThis spacious, well-appointed and privately situated detached bungalow is located in the grounds of the caravan club site near Tintagel. The living room is cosy with an electric ‘wood burner’ and TV, whilst the well-equipped kitchen is open plan with the dining area. The nearby South-West Coastal Path passes through some of the most dramatic scenery of its route.
Away from the coast, explore the beauty of Bodmin Moor, a vast moorland peppered with fascinating granite Tors. The Bodmin and Wenford Steam Railway chugs along for 6 miles and back and will delight children of all ages including steam train enthusiasts.
