- Portscatho, EnglandTrosvik is a seven-bedroomed property set over three floors, perfect for families and large groups to share. Located in the centre of Portscatho close to the beach, shops, pub and cafés, this is the ideal property for a family getaway. On the ground floor is a large spacious living room offering a smart HDTV which connects to streaming platforms and for those cooler evenings a cosy wood burner to cosy up to The kitchen/dining room is large and is fully equipped, complete with an eight-seater table which can be pulled, opening into a twelve-seater. Through the kitchen leads to the outside parking space and the utility room with drying rack, and the first of three shower rooms on this floor. The first floor has two kingsize bedrooms, one with a TV and seaviews, one twin bedroom and a single bedroom. The family bathroom completes this floor. The second floor has a further three bedrooms, as well as a shower room. At the front of the property is a large, paved terrace perfect to sit out and take in the sunshine and from the property across the road is the access to the beach.
Portscatho lies in the south-westerly corner of Gerrans Bay on the Roseland peninsula. In the village centre you’ll find several shops including a butcher and a decent grocery/off licence as well as the now standard galleries and gift shops. The local pub serves up St Austell ales and good pub grub.
Above Portscatho lies the village of Gerrans, only a 5-minute walk up the hill. The mediaeval church, that stands opposite, has served as an invaluable landmark to generations of local fishermen. Take the cliff path north out of Portscatho and in under 20 minutes you’ll be standing on the beautiful Porthcurnick beach. At low tide Porthcurnick has acres of flat sand perfect for games of cricket, but you might have to wade out a bit to get a decent swim! Further east still are Carne beach and Pendower beach which at low tide join to form an even bigger expanse of sand where dogs are allowed all year round. The cottage’s location is fantastic for exploring both the quaint and scenic countryside as well as the fantastic beaches on the coast, with the nearest shop being just a short walk away in the hamlet of Tregaswith, and lots of pubs and eateries to choose from in St. Columb Major down the road.
Set off on a surfing expedition to Newquay’s nearby world famous Fistral Beach or Watergate Bay known for enjoying incredible waves all year round, with surf schools here to teach beginners all they need to know!

Close by is the coastal resort of Padstow, home to TV chef Rick Stein and Michelin starred chef Paul Ainsworth, and is the jewel in the crown of this stunning county. Enjoy a pasty or ice cream on the quayside as the boats bob around in the harbour, but watch the seagulls - they love a pasty! The ferry to Rock, Daymer Bay and Polzeath is a great way to explore and sails from the quayside during the day.
The Camel Estuary is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and can be explored by walkers, cyclists and horse riders using the Camel Trail which follows the estuary. Also within easy reach are the coastal villages of Port Isaac, where the TV series ‘Doc Martin’ was filmed, Tintagel, the legendary home of King Arthur, and the lovely inlet of Boscastle. There are several beautiful bays a few miles away including Porthcothan, Watergate Bay and Harlyn Sands. Newquay is just down the coast and offers shops, pubs and restaurants as well as the Blue Reef Aquarium, Newquay Zoo and the famous surfing beach at Fistral.

- Crantock, EnglandThis 15th-century manor house, with its own pretty garden, has tremendous character, a friendly atmosphere and is extremely well furnished. The spacious beamed sitting room is set on the first floor to take full advantage of the wonderful coastal views. Attached to Manor Cottage (GAX) but completely self-contained, it enjoys a picturesque setting on the green, in the peaceful Cornish hamlet of West Pentire – only 300 yards down a cliff path from acres of clean golden sand (see Manor Cottage GAX). Children and adults alike can sample the delights of rock pool fishing, exploring caves or surfing. By hiring a pony, it is possible to ride cross-country to the beaches of Porth Joke and Holywell, without the need to cross any roads.
Set in the heart of National Trust land, the property is surrounded by magnificent walking country, and is an ideal base from which to explore Cornwall’s splendid countryside and unique history as well as its magnificent coastline. The immediate area is renowned for its superb sandy surfing beaches, punctuated by craggy headlands. Perranporth (named after the patron saint of tin miners) is 10 miles to the south, famous for its drifting sands which have twice buried the church. Lifeguards patrol the wide sandy beach in summer, and surf boards and wet suits can be hired by the day. Further along is St Agnes with its superb coastal views, while to the south lies Truro, the unofficial capital of Cornwall, offering good shops and restaurants, a splendid cathedral and The Royal Cornwall Museum with extensive displays of the county.
The historic and family friendly Bowgie Inn is adjacent and offers a wide selection of food as well as local beers and ciders, and sports fans can enjoy Sky coverage. A general store (open in season) can be found nearby, and Crantock village and its shops are only 1 mile away. The lively resort of Newquay, with its cliffs honeycombed by numerous caves, is 5 miles across the estuary to the north. - Camelford, EnglandThis spacious, well-appointed and privately situated detached bungalow is located in the grounds of the caravan club site near Tintagel. The living room is cosy with an electric ‘wood burner’ and TV, whilst the well-equipped kitchen is open plan with the dining area.
