    Portmellon is a quiet unspoilt cove with a sandy beach and slipway. Portmellon is ideally suited to visit the world-famous Eden Project, The Lost Gardens Of Heligan and the famous port of Charlestown. It is placed on the Coastal Footpath which runs past the cottage and offers a wealth of destinations both along the coast and inland. Portmellon has a variety of beaches nearby, from the family friendly Gorran Haven to the isolated Vault Beach near Dodman Point. Water sports and cycle hire are on offer at Pentewan.
    It is only a 10 minute walk to the historic fishing port of Mevagissey, a tiny seaside village of small alleyways and traditional buildings, with a selection of restaurants and pubs and shops. Once a busy pilchard port, Mevagissey still has a small fishing fleet but also offers scenic and fishing trips, boat hire and the ferry to Fowey.

Further west is the pretty village of Gorran Haven and Caerhays Castle and on, to the magnificent Roseland Peninsula. Beach 1¼ miles.

You can catch the seasonal ferry from the quay across St Austell Bay to the sea faring town of Fowey. The famous Eden Project near St Austell is also not be missed and is sure to keep visitors of all ages entertained. For beach lovers, this area is a paradise, offering secluded bays in addition to busier beaches, with many activities to enjoy including the sailing club at Porthpean and the beach activities in Pentewan, which is also the start of an off road cycle trail that can link up with a network of off road trails.
    A visit to the Georgian harbour of Charlestown and the Shipwreck Museum makes for a pleasant way to spend an afternoon, as there are often tall ships in the harbour which is used as many TV and film sets. The golf courses of Porthpean, St Austell and Carlyon Bay are easily reached, and the coastal path passes the front door, so Beach Corner Cottage really is the perfect spot to enjoy this dramatic county.
