The Lost Gardens of Heligan, a formerly overgrown and ‘lost’ gem of a garden, has been restored and is worth a visit, even if it’s to see the ‘jungle’ and play hide and seek with the kids.

    There are pretty sub-tropical gardens to visit, stunning scenery, quaint fishing villages, and beaches, many with sailing, diving, and kayaking. Porthpean, 4 miles away, is a favourite with the locals who kayak along the coast looking for seals that bask on the quiet beaches. The Eden Project is another world-class attraction within easy reach. Fowey is nearby, a seafaring town and former home of Daphne Du Maurier. It makes a great day out, especially for the restaurants and the cafés.
