Outside is a sun terrace and on the other side of the quiet country road is a games room with table football and a small table tennis table, off street parking and a small private garden with seating area. The cottage is set in the delightful location of Gerrans Square, opposite the Royal Standard pub and Gerrans Church.
Turnpike Cottage is only a short, 5-minute walk down the hill to the pretty little harbour of Portscatho, where many artists have taken inspiration from the stunning location and superb light in the area. There are a number of delightful little galleries showcasing the work of various Cornish artists. The local public house is nestled in The Square and serves local ales and good pub grub all year round. Rosevine beach is dog friendly throughout the year and is just to the east of the village. It has beautiful golden sands and is over looked by the increasingly famous Hidden Hut. - Portscatho, EnglandThis lovely family friendly cottage offers a wonderful holiday experience of staying in a period property yet offers modern living accommodation. As you enter the cottage the size and warmth of the dual aspect living room reveals itself with a variety of seating opportunities, ideal for watching the TV or sitting in front of the wood burner. Also on the ground floor is a lovely kitchen and dining room where you can either enjoy breakfast or an evening meal sat around the farmhouse table. Arranged over the first floor are the three bedrooms starting with the character master bedroom set to the front of the cottage with a kingsize bed, wooden flooring storage space and a feature fireplace. The second bedroom is also a character room again with a feature fireplace. This room can also be used either twin beds or zip and linked to create a super kingsize bed, and the third is arranged as an ample character twin room. Staying on the first floor is a modern twist of a period bathroom with a roll top slipper bath, lovely after a long day at the beach. Next to the bathroom is a separate single shower room fitted with a rain style shower. To the rear of the property is the fully enclosed level garden with a lawn area ideal for children or a dog to play. Set at the back of the garden is a sunny paved patio area with a variety of seating perfect for dining catching the sun or having a barbecue. The parking for this cottage is either at the front on the pavement street parking to the side road with gate access to the garden or across the road opposite the cottage in a public car park.
Located on the west of the beautiful Roseland Peninsula a few miles north of St Mawes, St Just-in-Roesland. It is a verdant village of manicured gardens and pretty cottages leading down to the woodlands and creeks by the Percuil River. The village is best known for the 13th century church of St Just the Martyr. Overlooking St Just Pool, a tree lined creek, the church is set in an amphitheatre like graveyard filled with an array of colourful sub-tropical plants and shrubs, a botanical project started over 100 years ago.
Nearby you can explore the D-Day embarkation points at Turnaware Bar and nearby the recently renovated Smugglers Cottage part of the Tregothnan Estate. It is also is one of the best spots in the area for a cream tea! The walks around Messack Point on the north side of St Just in Roseland Creek offer some of the finest views across the Carrick Roads. Few places in Cornwall can compare with the Roseland Peninsula, one of the most picturesque and unspoilt parts of the British Isles. Lovely beaches and cliffs delightful rivers and countryside pretty villages and hamlets all make the Roseland the perfect holiday setting. - Portscatho, EnglandThis fabulous newly built house is situated above St Just Creek. A short stroll down to the beautiful church of St Just in Roseland and its tranquil creek. A 5-minute drive takes you to the centre of St Mawes with its good range of facilities. The famous King Harry Ferry is only a 10-minute drive and gives easy access to Truro, Falmouth and the Lizard Peninsula.
The front door leads into a spacious hall where you can access the superb open plan kitchen/dining/living room set at the rear of the property. A utility room also has fitted appliances along with a tall fridge/freezer. Double doors open out to the large terrace looking over the garden along with country and creek views. Also from the hall there is a lovely snug perfect for reading or as a childrens room. There is also a downstairs shower and toilet. Arranged over the first floor are three bedrooms with the master room being kingsize with en-suite baths and walk-in shower and superb views towards the creek. Two further double bedrooms, one with kingsize bed and another that can be either a double or twin.
The exterior to the property starts with a superb raised patio and seating area perfect for a barbecue or to relax with a glass of wine. Steps down to several paved areas that you can also sit throughout the day, the flower beds and shrubs gives the gardens colour and privacy. - Portscatho, EnglandOld School House is on the edge of the quiet village of Gerrans adjacent to the village green and has great views over the bay to Nare Head & Gull Rock. The cottage, though recently built, has been traditionally designed with beams, box frame windows and has loads of character including a cosy open fireplace in the sitting room. It is a very comfortable place to stay with the benefit of a great, west facing secure courtyard garden to the rear.
It is just a short walk to the villages of Gerrans and neighbouring Portscatho. Portscatho and its neighbouring village of Gerrans are located on the eastern coast of the Roseland Peninsula, Cornwall, overlooking the dramatic Gerrans Bay. A truly peaceful waterside village, Portscatho is a lovely place for a holiday. This is a traditional Cornish cottage which has been quietly upgraded by its loving owners. It is full of character with a wonderful dining room boasting a lovely old cast iron range with brass fittings and a bread oven, sadly not in use, and a flagstone floor. The cosy fireplace (coal only please) and electric central heating will keep you warm during the wild winter evenings and the lovely garden has plenty of space to enjoy during the summer, perfect for lighting the barbeque and dining al fresco. The fully fitted kitchen includes a lovely limestone floor and is a dream for any budding chef on holiday. On the first floor you will find the three beautifully decorated bedrooms, one double with kingsize bed, one twin room and one room with bunk beds which is ideal for younger children. Enjoy glimpses of the sea in distant views from the first floor bedrooms and step out of your door onto stunning walks.
