- Praa Sands, EnglandThis is a beautiful stone cottage that looks like it has been part of the scenery for years but was, in fact, a derelict barn that had fallen into complete disarray until it was lovingly rebuilt by the owner.
There are cleverly designed windows and Velux skylights that make it a surprisingly bright and welcoming cottage, wide patio doors that open from the living/dining room into the garden, a terraced area to the rear of the property and a good sized garden. The kitchen is well-equipped and dream to cook in, any budding chef will enjoy cooking a holiday feast here. Both bedrooms are spacious with a master bedroom with kingsize bed and second bedroom with double bed and single bed, along with a truly luxurious bathroom with separate shower and bath.
Trennal Barn is situated just outside the quiet hamlet of Godolphins Cross and is a couple of miles inland from some of the south coasts best beaches, Praa Sands is south facing, sandy and has lifeguard cover during the season, it can have quite large waves and is frequented by surfers when the conditions are right. The main Helston - Penzance road provides good access to all modern amenities and tourist attractions from St Michaels Mount to Flambards with a wealth of pretty little bays, promontories and traditional fishing villages.
Praa Sands in the Southwest of Cornwall is located between Helston and Penzance. The town contains many facilities including a shop, pub, post office and Praa Sands Gold Club. Nearby Helston is famous for its Floral Dance in May, a day when the whole town stops and dresses up for the days many dances through the streets. From Penzance you can take the Scillonian for a day trip to the picturesque Isles of Scilly. Facilities for golf, sailing, course and sea fishing are all available within two miles. There is also a small sofa bed that can accommodate one adult or two young children. With parking outside, this property is suitable for people with restricted mobility. The well-equipped kitchen is ideal if you want to cook, however there are plenty of choices to eat out, and if you want to eat alfresco there is a barbecue and a fire pit in the grounds. The site has its own pub where you can mingle with other guests over a drink, or order food from the kitchen if you don’t want to cook. Outside is a great play area for children.
Located near the market town of Helston you are ideally placed to explore the area. Porthleven is just under 3 miles away, the Southwest Coast Path from Somerset to Dorset passes through the town, where you can walk as far as you want along the coast, or take the circular walks around Loe Pool. The harbour is always busy and is surrounded by pubs, restaurants and small shops, you will often see people swimming or paddleboarding here, the waves at the end of the pier make this popular with surfers.
Just 2½ miles is the impressive Praa Sands, a large sandy beach with plenty of parking, a café and a pub. Penzance town is just under 10 miles away, with a working harbour, quaint shopping centre and lovely gardens, and Newlyn and Mousehole are also well worth a visit. Marazion is home to St Michaels Mount, and there are art galleries, small gift shops, a very large children’s play area and Marazion beach. This long sandy beach stretches for miles, and at low tide allows you to walk to the Mount across a causeway, visit the amazing gardens, the castle and walk around the island.
If you are looking for a livelier atmosphere, St Ives is the place, catch the train from St Erth as parking can be difficult, or catch the open top bus and admire the views. There are great walks for your furry friends who are welcome at the property, and most shops will advertise that they welcome dogs. This is an ideal base for exploring or just relaxing.

This new build is set over three floors; on the top floor, the front bedroom has an en-suite and a stunning sea view. The bedroom next door has zip and link beds (please state your preference at the time of booking for a super kingsize bed or two singles). On the first floor are two double bedrooms and a family bathroom with a separate walk-in shower and bath. The ground floor has a toilet and utility room and from the hall you will reach the open plan living area, a well-equipped kitchen, dining area and sitting area, which is a lovely social place for everyone to get together in.
Ideal for families and friends, this is a great base from which to explore the area, and at the end of the road is the bus stop, so you can leave your car behind and enjoy the beautiful scenery from the open-top bus. You can walk to the beach at the bottom of the hill just over ½ mile away, where the sandy beach is protected by dunes and at low tide stretches for over a mile. Ideal for families with children, it has lifeguards during the main season, the gentle slope is great for little ones to paddle in the shallows, whilst the more adventurous can enjoy surfing and other water sports. There is a shop that offers lessons and hires of equipment if you want to try before you buy, other facilities include a café, shops, and toilets. There is a dog ban on the beach from July 1st to 31st August between 10am-6pm, but it is dog friendly outside these hours. After a lazy day on the beach, grab some fish and chips from the local chippie.
If you enjoy walking you are spoilt for choice, you can follow the coastal paths or just walk along the dunes, explore the small undisturbed coves, and see a wide variety of wildlife, you may even see a seal.
