The access path and steps are steep, so may not be suitable for those with restricted mobility, however the area has many beaches with easier access.

Trethosa is a pretty Hamlet in the Parish of St Stephen, situated between St Austell and Newquay and just a short drive from the A30 means great access to all the delights Cornwall has to offer. There is a rich mining heritage in the area, with China Clay being the mineral of choice. If you wish to learn more, a visit to the China Clay Museum during your stay is well worth a trip. The golden sands and crashing surf of the beaches around Newquay are a 15-minute drive to the north. The Eden Project, Carlyon Bay and the Roseland peninsula with its picturesque fishing villages are 20 minutes to the south. The cathedral city of Truro and a wide range of shops, pubs and restaurants are also within easy reach.
To the north is Newquay and these days, its excellent surfing waters are the town’s main industry, whereas it once used to be a major export port for the counties mining efforts and a north coast port for pilchard fisheries. Fistral Beach holds many surfing competitions throughout the year. Both the Women’s and Men’s Gig Championships are held here, as are a balloon festival and surf and lifesaving events. Newquay Zoo now houses 130 different species in sub-tropical gardens in the centre of the town. 2 Miles away is The Lappa Valley Steam Railway which, offers both the old and young an interesting day out.
The Cathedral City of Truro is in Cornwall’s heart and offers a wealth of facilities for the visitor. Dominated by the stunning cathedral, it is one of the south west’s most attractive cities. Lemon Quay plays host to many events throughout the year, including the Cornwall Food & Drink Festival in the Autumn and the famous Truro Fatstock Show just before Christmas. Regular farmers markets occur every Wednesdays & Saturday, and there are also arts & craft markets on Saturdays. The open plan living, dining room and kitchen open out onto the south east facing terrace and the main bedroom is directly above, all of which make the most of the stunning views. The property has a parking space included as well as a segregated courtyard area to the rear and an open grassed area alongside the seventeenth fairway to the front of the property.
Porthpean Beach is a few hundred metres down the hill and is sandy, safe and sheltered with rock pools at the south western end where children can be found searching for shrimp, crabs and starfish while at the opposite end the cliffs are mainly populated by nesting birds. The eighteen hole Porthpean Golf Course is built around the cottage and the club house is a short walk away where the golf is exceedingly reasonably priced and you can also enjoy a meal, coffee or drink! The Eden Project is just to the east of St Austell, the Lost Gardens of Heligan a short drive to the south west, the picturesque Roseland Peninsula with its quaint fishing villages is within half an hour’s drive and Newquay’s vibrant surfing lifestyle and golden beaches are a similar distance to the north.
