This friendly home from home welcomes twelve guests and a dog, and if it’s been too long since you whiled away lazy evenings with your favourite people you’ll find everything you need to relax.

The living space has a crackling log burner perfect for those cosy evenings spent catching up with a bottle of bubbly, and the French doors lead straight out to the garden. There’s an Xbox 360 to keep the group entertained, and you’ll find another living space on the first floor complete with a window seat with views of the bay. There is also a new large glass first floor balcony overlooking the stunning Freshwater Bay, new for 2024!

Outside, the enclosed, lawned garden has plenty of space to sit back and watch the food sizzle on the barbeque, and we can’t think of a better way to while away a summer’s day. There’s patio furniture for those of you happy to sit back, close your eyes and just enjoy the setting, and if you fancy some time on the beach, you’ll be able to pack up a picnic and head across the road to the sand.

Those of you hoping to take in some of the Wight’s scenery with coastal walks will be in your element, and with the iconic Tennyson Down nearby, you’ll have plenty of reason to get your walking boots on. The surfers amongst you will enjoy nearby Compton Beach, and for other water sports enthusiasts, you’ll find Freshwater Bay a stones throw away - where you can hire sea kayaks to explore the caves or even go coasteering.

The location is a must for nature lovers with red kites and buzzards often spotted, and up on Painscastle common, just a 20-minute walk, there are red grouse and curlews. Nearby is Rhosgoch Bog, a conservation area perfect for birdwatchers. At the highest point, known as the ‘Roundabout’ on the Begwn Hills, there are spectacular views and you can see seven counties on a clear day. The nearby town of Hay-on-Wye, famous for having close to 40 book shops, has plenty to keep you busy and one visit just isn’t enough. There are characterful antique shops and cafés, as well as many shops for those looking to discover a rare edition or bygone childhood book. Explore the atmospheric ruins of nearby Llanthony Priory, an early 13th Century Augustinian church which is open all year and entrance is free. Apart from being home to the internationally famous Royal Welsh Show, along with a host of other events, nearby Builth Wells offers everything from sports and leisure facilities, to an 18 hole golf course, pony trekking and renowned angling spots. The red kite feeding centre at Gigrin Farm offers the opportunity to come in close contact with these rare and magnificent birds on a daily basis.

The historic market town of Romsey, 3 miles, is often referred to as ’the jewel in the crown of Hampshire’, with Romsey Abbey, King John’s House and a variety of independent shops, cafés and restaurants making it a popular place to visit. The cities of Winchester and Salisbury both have magnificent cathedrals, historic buildings and excellent shopping and leisure facilities. Stockbridge and Southampton are also a short drive away. Broadlands and Hilliers Gardens are nearby, the New Forest and the coast are within easy reach. The National Trust owned Mottisfont Abbey is just up the road, and the River Test is on the doorstep for fishing. Paultons Park, the home of Peppa Pig World makes a fantastic day out for families. With no close neighbours and surrounded by fields on all sides, the property has 4 acres of gardens, with the outdoor heated swimming pool (heated June, July and August) being the focal point of the rear garden, easily reached through two sets of large French doors from the spacious kitchen. There is also a large area for playing ball games, two other large lawns, a double barbecue and outdoor furniture. The owners have a separate annexe adjacent to the property.

The property is located just 3 miles from Lymington and within the New Forest National Park itself, which is a haven for wildlife, with many roaming ponies across the heathland, extensive walking, cycling and riding routes. There is plenty to do in the area for all ages, all year round. The popular sailing town of Lymington is only a 5-minute drive, with its pretty harbour, cobbled pedestrianised streets, boutiques, eateries, pubs and day trips to Isle of Wight by ferry. Other places of interest include Beaulieu Motor Museum, Bucklers Hard, Marwell Zoo, Peppa Pig at Paultons Park, New Forest Owl and Otter Park and Southampton, to name but a few. The property is also within easy reach of many beaches, including Mudeford, Sandbanks, Poole and Bournemouth, the nearest beach being less than two miles away. There is a local convenience shop a 2-minute drive away (800 yards) and a local pub and restaurant within walking distance (600 yards).

The owners have an annex in the grounds where they often stay, one end of which is just a few yards away from Silverland’s back door, but they have their own entrance, drive, car park and garden, all separate to Silverland. All the windows and doors of the annex are double glazed, kept closed and have blackout blinds and curtains drawn to ensure your privacy. Unless you need the owner’s assistance for anything, you will not see them from arrival to departure, but they are happy to help if necessary - the choice is yours.

This charming, semi-detached, Victorian holiday cottage is conveniently situated only a couple of minutes walk from the centre of the delightful market town of Fordingbridge, which is known for its medieval bridge with five arches, as well as its local independent shops, eateries and church. Enjoying its own enclosed, lawned garden and two private car parking spaces, Bert’s Cottage is named after the owner of the property. Ideal for families or couples, there is so much to do locally for all ages, including a waterpark close by for windsurfing, sailing, fishing and watersports. There is also horse riding and golf in the area. Also nearby is a family campsite which allows visitors to use their indoor pool, Jacuzzi and bike hire. There are many scenic walks within easy reach, some of which meander along the River Avon which runs from nearby Salisbury to Christchurch. There are beaches at Bournemouth, Sandbanks and Poole, and the New Forest National Park offers excellent walking. There are day trips to the Isle of Wight from Lymington and there is also the Beaulieu Museum to visit. Also within easy reach are the cathedral cities of Winchester and Salisbury, Christchurch Harbour, and family days out such as Marwell Zoo with Peppa Pig World, historic ships at Southampton and the New Forest Wildlife Park. Roaming ponies and cattle can often be found outside the cottage or wandering through Burley – it certainly makes a change from a traditional traffic jam!

The unspoilt forest and heathland with wandering ponies and cattle are what makes the New Forest famous. Miles of beautiful walks are available, as is golf, or alternatively the surrounding area can be explored by car or on bicycle via the many cycle paths, where you can discover some of the appealing villages, towns, attractions, and gardens such as Lyndhurst, the sailing town of Lymington (with ferry terminal to the Isle of Wight), Beaulieu Motor Museum, Exbury Gardens and the riverside village of Bucklers Hard. The county of Hampshire itself was enjoyed by Jane Austen with her house and museum in Chawton and her resting place in Winchester Cathedral. Further afield but well worth a trip is Christchurch, Monkey World and the Tank Museum near Wool. Marwell Zoo, Peppa Pig World, ‘Go Ape’ adventure park, The Owl and Otter Park and nautical maritime history at Southampton, with retail shopping outlets, are also within easy reach. The coastline with its beaches at Bournemouth, Sandbanks and Poole is within a short drive, with golden beaches and has many popular activities such as windsurfing, boating and swimming. It has full benefit from all the amenities of a large town, including an indoor swimming pool and leisure centre, golf course, a ten-pin bowling alley, cinema, shops, cafés, restaurants and local markets, all on your doorstep.

The cottage is situated in the Breckland region, known as the ‘Secret Heart of Norfolk’, boasting over 100 villages scattered across 500 square miles, making walking, cycling and horse riding popular activities. The North Norfolk Coast is under an hours’ drive, offering excellent sandy beaches, RSPB nature reserves, and popular seaside resort of Wells-next-the-Sea, 25 miles, Blakeney Quay, 26 miles, historic Holt, 22 miles and The Royal Sandringham Estate, 31 miles. Dereham railway station is home to the Mid-Norfolk Railway, where you can enjoy an 11-mile trip through the countryside into the historic market town of Wymondham with its plentiful shops, cafés and pubs.
