Perfect property for exploring the area with walking and cycling from the door down the Monmouthshire canal, great for exercisiing the dogs. Two miles away is the fabulous Talybont reservoir. For those more adventurous, take a hike up Pen Y Fan to admire the outstanding views of the Welsh countryside for miles. For star gazers, this is an area of dark skies. The historic town of Brecon is 5 miles away where you will find plenty of coffee shops, art galleries, restaurants and bars. A substantial house, sleeps eight, furnished with a variety of modern and antique furniture and formerly part of the stable block of historic Llanfoist House, this Brecon Beacons holiday house is a perfect base from which to explore this lovely unspoilt part of the world with much to see and do within walking distance.
One well behaved dog welcome free. Once housing the carriages for the occupants of the big house, including the legendary iron master, Crawshay Bailey, this is now a comfortable, spacious home with two sitting rooms and three en-suite bedrooms. The main spacious living room is comfortably furnished with ample sofas and arm chairs and has a multi-fuel style gas fire in the inglenook fireplace. Holly Cottage is a charming, spacious traditional 18th century end terraced cottage. It overlooks the old mining village of Cwmtwrch at the foot of the Black Mountain on the southern edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Next to the cottage is on site private parking for in excess of three vehicles and for any cycle enthusiasts wanting to bring their bikes, the property also offers a lockable bike store. Sympathetically restored, this welcoming cottage offers a cosy sitting room with exposed beams and wood burner, a well-equipped kitchen-dining area and three attractive, comfortable bedrooms. Slate flooring throughout the downstairs is easily cleaned when little paws leave a trail. This wonderful cottage lies at the crossroads of four areas of natural beauty; For the walkers out there, the Black Mountain is quite literally out of the gate and onto any one of 3 footpaths, 2 of which follow the Affon Twrch all the way up the mountain the 3rd follows the Nant Gyws on the other side of the ridge. Just 25 miles to the northeast you will find Pen Y Fan, the highest mountain in the Brecon Beacons and 20 miles away to the southwest lies Swansea Bay, the Mumbles and the stunning Gower coastline with its internationally renowned beaches. The epic and romantic castles of Carmarthenshire lie just to the north, whilst the hauntingly beautiful Vale of Neath, and its waterfalls, lie very close by to the east. The National Show Caves for Wales are approximately 10 miles from the property and make a fantastic day out. Bike Park Wales is about a 30-minute drive east from the property at Merthyr Tydfil and Afan Forest Mountain Bike Trails are 30-minutes south, close to Neath, with masses of trails for mountain bike enthusiasts. Former chapel, stone built in 1867, now a very attractive quirky detached holiday cottage with much character, on a minor road junction in the village of Pontsticill, within the Brecon Beacons National Park.
