Away from the coast, Ceredigion’s countryside is just as promising, with an array of charming market towns and historic castles dotted around the county. For an adventurous day out, take a short drive to the rugged Cambrian Mountains and explore the Cors Caron Nature Reserve, which flourishes with wildlife and the historic ruins of Strata Florida Abbey, which is one of Wales’ most important historical sites. The beautiful harbour village of New Quay is only 7 miles away, where you can enjoy not only the beach and boat trips, but also an array of shops and eateries, or you can just sample an ice cream. Why not have a seat on the harbour wall and watch out for the bottlenose dolphins which are regular visitors to this area; you can also take a boat trip out for a closer look at the dolphins and wide array of sea life.

The colourful Georgian harbour town of Aberaeron is a 20-minute drive and offers an abundance of shops, restaurants and cafés, and a delightful level walk, suitable for bikes and pushchairs, to the National Trust property of Llanerchaeron, an 18th-century Welsh gentry estate. For those visitors who enjoy outdoor pursuits there is a canoeing centre and fishing available in Llandysul. Fly and coarse fishing, as well as golfing, are available in Lampeter. A trip to Cardigan is a must, try the bustling local farmers market and visit the restored Cardigan Castle with over 900 years of history waiting to be explored. The Welsh Wildlife Centre is located in the nearby small village of Cilgerran and is one of the best wetland reserves in Wales. Perhaps take a short drive to Cenarth Falls, where if your lucky enough, you may see the salmon leaping up through the falls travelling upstream. The colourful Georgian harbour town of Aberaeron is nearby and is worth a visit, as is the National Trust property of Llanerchaeron. Visit the coastal towns of Aberystwyth or Cardigan, both an easy drive away, or venture inland to the market towns of Lampeter, Tregaron or Newcastle Emlyn.

Craigfryn is situated on the owner’s land, with 6 lakes available for coarse and fly fishing – equipment for all fishing needs can be hired on-site. Located in a lovely hamlet just over 4 miles from the fabulous harbour town of Aberaeron, a Georgian jewel with elegant colour washed houses surrounding the harbour - reputedly planned and designed by John Nash. There is a range of small, interesting shops, craft centres, pubs and restaurants.

Cardigan Bay has lots to see and do in and around the town. With two shingle beaches to enjoy, good launching for small boats from the harbour, boat trips to spot the marine life, sea angling, fishing for salmon/sea trout on the river Aeron or take a cycle ride along one of the 5 Wales Cycle Trails. Why not take a stroll along ’Lover’s Walk’ past four weirs and along the river valley to Llanachaeron, or try a coastal cliff top walk with stunning sea views and spectacular wildlife. The property is also just 5 miles from New Quay Beach, New Quay is a quaint seaside town, and you will find an array of little shops, cafés, restaurants and pubs. Enjoy fish and chips along the harbour, whilst looking out for the frequently visiting bottlenose dolphins. There are crab fishing boats and fishing trips, and if you would like to see the marine life, take a dolphin survey trip.

Explore the 60 miles of Ceredigion coastline, on the coastal path, and there’s no shortage of beaches either. Visit the secluded National Trust cove of Cwmtydu, where seal pups can often be seen here during the autumn months. Close by is New Quay Honey Farm, with its tea rooms and shop selling honey and beeswax.

Llanrhystud lies on the Ceredigion Coast Path, part of the Wales Coast Path, which is 14 miles starting from Morfa Farm caravan park in Llanrhystud to New Quay, passing spectacular sea views along the way and centuries of history, heritage, and culture, for any walkers this is a must do; perhaps discover Aberaeron for the day, only seven miles away.
Whether you enjoy a stroll around a Georgian country estate, chilling out on the beach or a hearty harbour meal after a train ride, just 9 miles north is Aberystwyth. Aberystwyth’s town high street benefits from many shops, mainly independent boutique shops with some high street names mixed in, whilst the nearby retail outlets offer larger named and designer brands. Aberystwyth Arts Centre is worth a visit, as is its neighbour the National Library of Wales, home to historic books as well as the smallest book in the world, it also hosts painting and film exhibitions, and you can sit in comfort watching archive films from across Wales. There are many interesting and beautiful places to visit including the colourful Georgian harbour town of Aberaeron, just 15 minutes away by car, and the university town of Aberystwyth, with its long promenade and pier, cliff railway, camera obscura and Vale of Rheidol steam railway to Devil’s Bridge. Walkers, cyclists, wildlife enthusiasts, or those who prefer more extreme sports are well catered for, and you can literally lose yourself in the wild undisturbed landscape of hills, mountains, and forests.
