Cobblers Cottage dates from the mid-19th century and is a lovely example of the style found in Cornwall at this time. The cottage has an inviting kitchen which is well equipped, warm and cosy. The living room has an original fireplace, housing an electric wood burner and has soft furnishings to sink into. There is a delightful snug, where you can relax with your favourite book, whilst upstairs are two comfortable double bedrooms with views across the village and beyond. The family bathroom has superb tiling in traditional Cornish colours and has both a bath and efficient electric shower over. The garden has been carefully tended and has an array of flowers, shrubs and plants with a wooden bench in a secluded part, with subtle lighting. The village of Nanpean, translated from the Cornish meaning ‘little valley’, is just 4 miles from the town of St Austell and is steeped in history. The historical village port of Charlestown is 7 miles away and has been the setting of many films and the popular series of Poldark, due to it’s originality and authentic tall ships. There is a fascinating Shipwreck Museum here along with pubs and restaurants. The Clay Trails offer wonderful walks and cycling paths and an insight into the once huge industry of clay mining which was a major part of the economy for the area. The scenery is quite stunning here. There is a lovely short walk which begins next to the cottage and takes you down through woodland and on past the football pitch, itself for public use.
The buzzing town of Newquay, famed for its water sport activities, restaurants, bars and beaches is a lively place and sits just 11 miles away. This location is also perfect for exploring the harbour towns and villages to the east, including beautiful Fowey, with its narrow streets and ancient natural harbour. Polperro, famous for smuggling connections in times gone by, is a ‘must visit’, whilst Looe, with its hills looking down to the delightful harbour, is quite beautiful, especially at night when the waterside lighting creates a somewhat magical feel.
Further inland, the unique Eden Project shows a world beneath huge biomes and is an amazing experience. Atmospheric Bodmin Moor offers breathtaking views from its rising tors and mysterious stone structures, whilst the Camel Trail can be enjoyed by hiring a bicycle and travelling part or all of its 18 miles, along stunning scenery, unseen and hidden from busy roads. Beach 7¼ miles.

Within the owners’ grounds lies Lower Lodge, a superb granite stone house with a plethora of original features, including a wonderful fireplace, range stove and farmhouse style windows.
Lower Lodge has a super kitchen, with range stove, centre island, and character in abundance. A conventional cooker is also thoughtfully provided. From here you will find the living room, instantly inviting and with stone fireplace, beams and relaxing furniture. Upstairs are three bedrooms. Bedroom one has a kingsize bed, TV and views of woodland, hills and the garden area. Bedroom two is a twin room, an airy and bright space. Bedroom three has a bunk bed, always popular with children! Find a lovely conservatory, where morning breakfast can be enjoyed and a private garden space with furniture. Thoughtfully provided is an outside building, with shower for removing mud and sand from both you and your four-legged friend! There is plenty of parking for three cars. For cycling enthusiasts, hire a bicycle and ride the length of The Camel Trail, 18 miles of breath-taking scenery to inspire and invigorate!

Trethosa is a pretty Hamlet in the Parish of St Stephen, situated between St Austell and Newquay and just a short drive from the A30 means great access to all the delights Cornwall has to offer. There is a rich mining heritage in the area, with China Clay being the mineral of choice. If you wish to learn more, a visit to the China Clay Museum during your stay is well worth a trip. The golden sands and crashing surf of the beaches around Newquay are a 15-minute drive to the north. The Eden Project, Carlyon Bay and the Roseland peninsula with its picturesque fishing villages are 20 minutes to the south. The cathedral city of Truro and a wide range of shops, pubs and restaurants are also within easy reach.
To the north is Newquay and these days, its excellent surfing waters are the town’s main industry, whereas it once used to be a major export port for the counties mining efforts and a north coast port for pilchard fisheries. Fistral Beach holds many surfing competitions throughout the year. Both the Women’s and Men’s Gig Championships are held here, as are a balloon festival and surf and lifesaving events. Newquay Zoo now houses 130 different species in sub-tropical gardens in the centre of the town. 2 Miles away is The Lappa Valley Steam Railway which, offers both the old and young an interesting day out.
The Cathedral City of Truro is in Cornwall’s heart and offers a wealth of facilities for the visitor. Dominated by the stunning cathedral, it is one of the south west’s most attractive cities. Lemon Quay plays host to many events throughout the year, including the Cornwall Food & Drink Festival in the Autumn and the famous Truro Fatstock Show just before Christmas. Regular farmers markets occur every Wednesdays & Saturday, and there are also arts & craft markets on Saturdays. Beach 8⅓ miles.

Standing on the headland above the picturesque village of Port Gaverne, the house is a few steps from the north Cornwall coastal path. The beach at Port Gaverne is a 6-7 minute walk away and a little further is Port Isaac, with its huddle of slate houses and narrow alleyways.
The state-of-the-art kitchen is great for catering and cooking the fresh local produce. There are two excellent fish shops in Port Isaac that sell their daily catch of fish and shellfish; specialities are crab and lobster.
Local lamb, beef and pork are all available at the nearby farm shop, which has wonderful views overlooking the sea.
Famous now as the setting for the TV series ’Doc Martin’, Port Isaac is a working fishing village with shops, bars and several top-quality restaurants.

Close by is a hotel and next door is a bistro, which has indoor and outdoor dining. There are two Michelin starred restaurants in Port Isaac run by Nathan Outlaw. Nearby in Padstow is Paul Ainsworth’s Michelin starred restaurant and he has a great pub too. Rick Stein’s Seafood Restaurant and Cookery School are in Padstow. Rick Stein also has a number of other restaurants with varying price ranges.
This is an ideal spot for those who enjoy coastal walks, bird watching, golf, fishing, surfing, sailing, kayaking, cycling or just lazing on the beach. Polzeath’s famous surf attracts all comers, and its glorious sandy beach is just a short drive away. The cliffs, caves and rock pools are a children’s paradise.
Within an easy drive are Padstow, Tintagel, Boscastle, Bude and Wadebridge.
Wadebridge hosts one end of the Camel Trail, with a 5-mile dedicated cycle ride to Padstow on the old railway track, alongside the picturesque Camel Estuary. To the north stands Tintagel’s medieval castle and the quaint fishing village of Boscastle, with Crackington Haven and Bude a little further on. Inland lies Jamaica Inn and Bodmin Moor, the setting for the ’Poldark’ stories.
A few minutes’ walk away is a water sports centre, Cornish Rock Tors, based on the beach at Port Gaverne. They offer kayaking, paddle boarding and coasteering for individuals and groups. Polzeath’s famous surf attracts all comers, and its glorious sandy beach is just a short drive away. Water sports can be enjoyed at Rock, from where a passenger ferry crosses the Camel Estuary to the town of Padstow. Daymer Bay has another glorious sandy beach, and the golf course at St Enodoc is open to the public. John Betjeman, the late Poet Laureate, is buried at St Enodoc Church, with its twisted spire.
