Trebarwith Strand Beach is close by and at low tide a large expanse of golden sand is exposed, with plenty of rock pools and a number of caves, just be careful to always check the tide times. Tintagel is well worth a visit, cross the new suspension bridge to Tintagel Castle and Island where medieval fortifications combine a history of the dark ages with the legend of King Arthur to produce a wonderful day out with many different eateries and pubs to sample as a bonus. The coast path stretches along some of the most rugged cliffs in the southwest, where majestic promontories overlook secluded beaches with golden sands and crashing Atlantic surf. Each barn has a well-equipped kitchen as well as open-plan living. Each has its sitting-out area, which is ideal for watching the wildlife and al fresco dining. Note: there are no local amenities as it is a hamlet, but only a 5-minute car journey to the local village, we suggest you look at the welcome folder in the cottage to familiarise yourself with your surroundings and to discover what amenities are local to your stay.
Guests are close to the coastal path and if you walk north, you will reach Tintagel, the mythical home of King Arthur, with its array of shops, pubs and restaurants. A little further on, Boscastle with its picturesque harbour is a must. A small beach can be reached on foot, approximately ½ mile away. Travelling down the coast, guests will come to Port Isaac, where the TV series ’Doc Martin’ is filmed, and further down the coast, visit the beautiful sandy surfing beach at Polzeath and the dunes at Rock where you can take a ferry across to Padstow. From Padstow, with its working harbour, shops, pubs and restaurants, you can hire bikes and cycle the Camel Trail to Wadebridge and beyond to Bodmin.
Close by is Bodmin Moor, an unspoilt moorland at its best, and for walkers the tors on the moor are a must.
