Bruno’s Bothy is detached and set in a peaceful location on a working farm in the heart of beautiful Cumbria. If you can tear yourself away, Cumbria and the Lake District National Park is one of the most beautiful regions in the UK. The area has something to offer all visitors, from those seeking adventure, to those seeking peace and quiet. Not only is the Lake District National Park a short drive away, but from here it’s also easy to explore the great border city of Carlisle, Hadrian’s Wall and Scotland. The Bungalow sits in the quiet rural village of Aikton, set in the northern part of Cumbria. The peaceful countryside is idyllic, and perfect for friends and family to relax, catch up and enjoy the surrounding area. The property is a large detached bungalow, with two large living rooms, giving plenty of space for everyone. A spacious and well equipped dining kitchen is the central hub of the house, where hearty meals, drinks and good conversation can go on well into the evening, after which head off for a comfortable night’s sleep in the three double bedrooms, the third can also be made up into a twin if so required. Wake up revived and refreshed, two family bathrooms are available for all. Outside is surrounded by large enclosed lawned gardens, with open rural fields to the rear and side, often with livestock, and views of Skiddaw (weather permitting). For al fresco dining, the paved patio area is the place to serve up your culinary skills, however a morning coffee, a slice of toast and the gentle sound of birdsong makes it a perfect place to reflect and plan the day ahead. A bike store is also available on request via the owner, at cost. A short 5 minute walk and the 18th-century inn serves quality home cooked food and a selection of real ales. Whilst the market town of Wigton (4 miles) has a wide range of restaurants and supermarkets. Angerton Cottage is a delightful country cottage set in beautiful countryside yet close to the many and varied attractions the area has to offer. Refurbished in 2021 Angerton Cottage is lovingly decorated and furnished throughout, a particularly favourite room at Angerton Cottage is the living room with patio doors opening onto the garden where you can sit and enjoy the wildlife. In the winter the cosy wood burner in the living room is a joy.

With three comfortable bedrooms, a lovely kitchen and separate dining room it’s the perfect cottage for a family get together at any time of year and of course your four-legged friend is well catered for in the large, enclosed garden. From Angerton Cottage you can walk or cycle along quiet country lanes or jump in the car and you are in the heart of the Lake District National Park within half an hour where you can enjoy more strenuous hikes or just take in the delights of the lakes and mountains and the lovely towns like Keswick and Windermere.

A short drive will take you to the ruins of the famous Hadrian’s Wall, or why not take a drive over the border to the beautiful beaches of Dumfries and Galloway.

Mount Farm – The Stable is a delightful, renovated cottage on a small working farm beautifully situated in the village of Blackford on the outskirts of the city of Carlisle.

Low Moat is a charming, detached country cottage set quietly on a working farm nestled in the beautiful Cumbrian countryside.

Diamond Cottage is a beautiful former Joiner’s workshop located in the grounds of the gorgeous Corby Castle Estate. Named Diamond Cottage for its unusually shaped fenestrations, it is elegantly furnished throughout with kitchen/dining and bedroom on the ground floor and upstairs there is the living room and further bedroom. The bedrooms offer luxurious beds boasting quality linens and towels and are complemented by modern and sleek en-suites. The living room is furnished with comfortable sofas and the kitchen offers every modern convenience. Great Corby is a desirable and very pretty little village and has a well-regarded pub and a microbrewery where you can enjoy some fine ales all brewed on site. The village is beautifully placed above the River Eden where an impressive Victorian viaduct spans the river and provides pedestrian access to the nearby village of Wetheral. Diamond Cottage is the perfect location for exploring further afield. Enjoy a visit to Hadrian’s Wall, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Talkin Tarn is also a lovely day out where you can enjoy water sports on the Tarn and enjoy the lovely woodland walks. The delightful little market town of Brampton is close by where there are a mix of shops and restaurants and the Border city of Carlisle where you can enjoy high street shopping or cultural sites. Close to the Lake District National Park, the North Pennines and Scotland your location here at Diamond Cottage is superb.

Old Byre Cottage and Fell View Cottage are two semi-detached barn conversions having been beautifully refurbished in 2023. They nestle in the stunning Cumbrian countryside and are flooded with light from the floor-to-ceiling windows and patio doors. Both have been tastefully renovated and offer all the necessities to ensure a memorable stay. The open plan living/dining/kitchen area is modern and bright and tastefully decorated, while the bedrooms boast sumptuous beds and crisp linen. The master bedroom has an en-suite and there is a modern and sleek family bathroom as well.
Old Byre Cottage and Fell View Cottage are set amongst the rolling Cumbrian countryside on a quiet country lane, yet are only a short drive from the market towns of both Brampton and Longtown where you will find a variety of shops, cafés and pubs. Whilst set in the tranquil and beautiful Cumbrian countryside, undoubtedly one of the most beautiful regions in England, they are not far from an abundance of local attractions waiting to be explored. The Lake District National Park, the majestic Solway Coast, historic Carlisle and the Scottish Borders with Gretna Green are within easy reach.
Of course a visit to Hadrian’s Wall a UNESCO World Heritage Site where you can explore the history of the wall and its dramatic landscape at over twenty fascinating sites is certainly a must. Enjoy the beauty of the area either by car, bike or foot and after a day exploring return to the delightful Old Byre Cottage and Fell View Cottage.

The Old Dairy Cottage is a charming little cottage which has been completely refurbished in 2023 and retains delightful original features. Converted from an old dairy, the open plan living, kitchen and dining area has exposed beams and a lovely feature in the bedroom is the exposed original stonework. From the garden and conservatory there are wonderful views where you can sit and enjoy whatever the weather.
Set on the edge of the small village of Ainstable there are wonderful walks from your doorstep, along quiet country lanes and along the beautiful River Eden only a mile away. Ainstable is a quiet little Cumbrian village with a local pub and restaurant and just over a mile away is Armathwaite, where you can jump on the Settle to Carlisle railway line, a really beautiful journey. The wonderful Cumbrian countryside is just waiting to be explored from the historical site of Hadrian’s Wall, with its rich history and dramatic landscape, to the majestic mountains and lakes of the Lake District National Park, a World Heritage Site.
A short drive will take you over the border to Scotland, to the beautiful beaches of Dumfries and Galloway and the stunning Solway Coast. The beautiful border city of Carlisle is a short drive away or a scenic trip on the Settle to Carlisle railway line, where you can visit the castle or just take in some retail therapy at some of the high street shops.

Kimberdale Lodge is spacious and beautifully situated. Set in large gardens with a picturesque, rural outlook in the peaceful Cumbrian countryside. The covered area to the rear of the lodge is particularly handy for all your wet weather gear – we do sometimes get rain here in Cumbria!
Whilst Kimberdale Lodge is set in a rural area you are only a short drive from Carlisle and the M6 motorway, making it the ideal base to explore the surrounding area which includes the Lake District National Park, not to mention the world famous Hadrian’s Wall which is basically on your doorstep. Surrounded by miles of quiet country lanes it’s the perfect location for a walk or a bike ride, perhaps stopping off at some of the local village pubs on your way. Just a short drive south of the Scottish Border, and close to the Solway Coast, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, where you can spot a fantastic array of wildlife. The border city of Carlisle also has plenty to see and do including the castle, Tullie House Museum and a whole host of shops, cafés and restaurants.

Prominently looking over the village green, and within touching distance of the Skiddaw massif, this link detached property is in the perfect location to explore the north western fells of the Lake District. Located in the heart of the village, with the village farm adjacent, the property offers access onto miles of quiet footpaths and local fells including little-known routes up Skiddaw and the back of the Blencathra massif. The beautiful beck, with its resident ducks, flows through the village and provides a great place for kids and dogs to cool off on warm days. The property is also only a few miles away from the historic market towns of Keswick and Cockermouth, which can both be easily accessed by bus, and offer a variety of shops, pubs and restaurants.
Lealholme provides spacious and comfortable, single-storey accommodation, and has the added benefit of level access and wide doors. Tastefully decorated throughout, and with an enclosed garden, with double wrought iron gates, which provides parking and makes the perfect sun trap to sit and relax, perhaps whilst enjoying a purchase from the Lakes Distillery just down the road! The well-equipped, contemporary kitchen has slate tiled floors, Denby crockery, quality cutlery and utensils and an alcove, complete with a large electric range cooker. This fully central heated home from home, offers a large comfortable living/dining room with original pitch pine panelling, stone mullioned and sash windows offers a cosy and welcoming environment, complete with a wood burner. Lealholme also boasts a large walk-in shower with a Softstone base and a double shower head.
The village is situated in the north of the Lake District National Park, and is also just a short drive to Carlisle and the Scottish borders - it couldn’t be easier to explore the area. Bassenthwaite is a real community village which hosts an annual duck race, frequent pub quizzes and a vibrant, active local church arranging village fates, sports days and even Morris dancing. This beautiful cottage is just over a mile away from Bassenthwaite Lake, where fishing and sailing are available, or for nature lovers a walk up to the osprey viewpoints is well worth the effort. The property is ideally located for cyclists, with rides including the C2C and Cumbria Way routes, along with off-road trails at nearby Whinlatter Forest. However you choose to spend your stay, this is a perfect location to make the most of the Lake District. There is a dog-friendly, village pub serving food, just a short walk away, whilst Armathwaite Hall hotel and spa, Ravenstone lodge and Castle Inn all provide alternatives within 2 miles.
