The National Trust Lyme Park with its glorious house and gardens can be reached on foot or by car and the magnificent historic houses of Chatsworth, Haddon Hall and the popular market town of Bakewell, 45 minute’s drive. A variety of Peak District villages are all easily reachable within half an hour’s drive including Edale, Tideswell and Castleton, and great days out for the family within an hour’s drive include the local Chestnut Centre Wildlife Park, Carsington Water, Matlock Bath with is cable car and the UK’s premier theme park Alton Towers. The superb barn conversions can be found in an idyllic rural setting in the hamlet of Day Green, Sandbach. There are also many charming towns and villages nearby, such as the picturesque village of Prestbury and the historic market town of Knutsford. Spruce Shepherd’s Hut can be found nestled within the enchanting surroundings of a Christmas tree farm in the Cheshire market town of Wilmslow. The shepherd’s hut is accessed via a rough track and is set on a working farm shared by wildlife including badgers, foxes, hedgehogs and bats, as well as many different sorts of birds so there’s always something going on. There is an on-site tea room open from March to October (Thursday–Sunday) and specialises in Cheshire-based produce, but also has a Caribbean influence. It’s fully licensed so expect bacon rolls and home made cake together with the odd cocktail!
If you can bear to venture out, Wilmslow centre is around a 15-minute walk and is a shoppers’ paradise with designer boutiques and upmarket interior designers, as well as chic charity shops and a department store. Brackenwood is a distinguished and spacious, six-bedroomed period house with a separate two-bedroom cottage annexe, located on the beautiful Wirral Peninsula. In a prominent elevated position, it borders extensive areas of natural beauty with direct access to the beautiful woodlands of Caldy Hill. Offering far-reaching views, the property is detached and gated with CCTV making it private and secure. Filled with as much history as it has character and charm, it offers flexible and usable accommodation. The main house covers three levels, is beautifully presented, and luxuriously modernised to match the needs of today’s living. Finally there’s a downstairs toilet.
On the first floor is the master suite with super kingsize bed, sofa seating and TV. It has a vast en-suite with stand-alone bath and power shower. There are three further double bedrooms, of which one is en-suite, and the main family bathroom. The second floor boasts another luxurious bedroom with sky lights and en-suite facilities, and many of the bedrooms can be offered as twin upon request. All beds have pocket sprung luxury mattresses with 200-thread-count cotton linen, and duvets and pillows are ethically sourced goose/duck down.
