The historic fishing village of Mevagissey is 3½ miles away, with narrow lanes that all seem to lead to the pretty, bustling, working harbour. The Lost Gardens of Heligan, a formerly overgrown and ‘lost’ gem of a garden, has been restored and is worth a visit, even if it’s to see the ‘jungle’ and play hide and seek with the kids.
